BuffyBear's Journal, 28 May 2011

So much for my weekend! My step son is on a trip and couldn't find anyone to take care of his dogs - so guess who is watching them? His older dog is no problem but the younger one (some kind of hound) has never been taught even basic commands. He terrorizes my dog (although he just wants to play he is way too big and rough). To make a long story short - I didn't get much sleep last night.

The cats have mixed reactions to this. My little cat, who is not allowed up on my computer desk, is now up here because this is where she feels secure. The other cat, who loves dog food, drove the older dog away from his food so he could eat it. He has no fear and no brains.

It is supposed to stop raining this afternoon so I may just leave DH with dogs and get out of here.

Bren - I wasn't quick enough. DH decided he'd rather go to work than stay here in this zoo.

Buffy- We dog sit alot for our neighbors 2 german shepards. Love those puppers to death and thankfully they are well disciplined. My feeling about undisciplined dogs is the same as children...keep them at home or find someone else to watch them unless you want to teach them some manners! I guess this works for friends but not for family! :(

Babs - You've said the key word here - "FAMILY".

Oh boy - I agree animals and children need to be taught how to behave - and one going awol just upsets the whole pack - hope your step son is not away long Buffy - good luck!!

Oh gosh, Buffy....is there any way to set up 2 separate spaces to give your own pets (and you) some peace? I went through something similar with friends a couple years ago and, NEVER AGAIN! They ended up moving too far away for a repeat engagement (thankfully). Hopefully, the kids are better behaved???

Hey Buffy - I hope the children cause less chaos :) most animals are truely creatures of habit, and don't take kindly to new comers, even on a temporary basis. I adopted two cats last year august to join the two we already had, and I would say they have only seemed to fully accept each other in the last month or so, and would definitely think long and hard before adding to the group in future, but am glad they have finally settled into each others routines.

Sandy and Tracy - The kids are really great. Their parents are divorced so they stay here a lot (Dad works out of town and Mom works nights). I had to put Wild Dog out on a run during the day. He has lots of shade so I'm not feeling too guilty, especially since he is sleeping under our bed at night.
