Number 2 today. This is a question for my walking friends. I live in Michigan, and as as you know, it snows. I love to walk outside on my lunch break. I get in a good 4 miles on lunch. But now I go to the mall. I don't get as long of a walk, only about 2.3 miles, but I do a lot more steps. Up and down, one lap singles, next lap I skip steps. Does anyone have a preference, outside or in the mall. Of course if it's raining or cold, I'm going inside, but if it's nice, which do you prefer. The longer walk, or the intense steps?

You should do which ever one you enjoy the most or switch it up to keep your muscles guessing.

A brisk walk and climbing up stairs are both a good exercise, everything that get's your heart pumping is good.

When the weather permits, I love walking outside. In NC, the summers make it nearly impossible to exercise outside during lunch since we don't have access to showers. Right now and into spring we can walk outside without 'stinking' too much when we get back in :-)

I also recommend doing both. But any and all exercise is great. If you can keep your heart rate up above the 60% to 85% level you will burn calories efficiently.

Both, mixing it up is good.
