Fledgist's Journal, 18 May 2011

No change in my weight. I went to the gym and did 40 minutes yesterday. I'm slowly upping the amount of time I spend exercising on the days I go in (not counting my training days when I get a big jump in the amount of exercise). I don't know when I'll get up to an hour a time, but I suspect that it may be some time this summer. A lot depends on how I feel. It's a slow process of getting myself into the right shape.

In October, twenty minutes was about as much as I could do. Now I can do a thirty-five minute stretch and not feel fatigued, though my muscles are definitely feeling the burn. Slowly, slowly, my body is getting into proper shape after years of being not much better than a pudding.

Hi,Fledgist look how far you have come. 40 minutes is double what you use to do. Thats amazing my friend.. I do understand about getting tired after a few minutes. Don't over do or it will set you back. Hope your Wednesday is a good one buddy......Bren

it does take time to build up your exercise routine..but by adding more you keep challenging that body an keep it guessing as to whats in store for it ...not really about how long you work out ...from what i read its about using intensity workouts in your workouts...say walk for 3-5 min..then jog for one...then back to walking...then jog...intensity workouts work you out for for a shorter amount of time spent exercsing...have a great day....

Loosinisfun, I've been building in some variety as well as increasing intensity. Over time I've been getting myself used to a routine, varying it, building it up, and then adding to it and making some basic changes as well. I'm getting myself into better shape. I doubt that I'll be in the shape I was in my mid-twenties, but I will certainly be fitter than I was a couple of years ago. I know I am right now.
