Hello Buddies!
Yesterday I spent the better portion of my day searching for a heart rate monitor to purchase. I have been reading about different types of exercise & the effects they have on weight management. I have learned that different types of exercise intensity triggers different biological changes in our bodies. Low Intensity/Light Aerobic activity burns FAT while High Intensity/Hard Aerobic activity burns GLUCOSE. The "controllers" of health & fitness thru-out the body & our Heart Rate is the ONLY way to know which is being used.
I *believe* I have been working out in BOTH 1st & 2nd Gears & want to hit 3rd every now & again.
1st Gear=Distance NOT Speed! Up to 65% of maximum heart rate.
2nd Gear=More Power/Less Mileage!66%-80% of maximum heart rate.
3rd Gear=Rocket Fuel!Quick Bursts of 85% of maximum heart rate & up.
Anyway,I got a Withings & soon realized that to get a heart rate reading I need to remove it from its wrist strap or its clip & then place my finger on the back side of it. Since I want to be able to know what my heart rate is just at a glance at different times thru-out my work out this would prove to be not very practical to me so I returned it & settled on a S7 slim.
The slim is worn like a watch & has buttons around the rim of its face that I push to get its readings. It has a 5 yr warranty & cost under $50. while with the Withings I could purchase a 2 yr warranty for $20. on top of the cost of $110.
Now to set it up & get used to how it works.
JUST ANOTHER WAY TO CELEBRATE HEALTHY!

I have the Withings Pulse. Given its limited functionality when it comes to heart rate monitoring, calling it the Pulse is false advertising. I have a $20 SmartHealth watch that also measures heart rate by placing your finger on a sensor, but it's on the front of the watch so you don't have to take it off your wrist. Kudos on all the fitness research.

Tamzin, I did see the Polar when I was in my search. They had only 2 colors in stock & I didn't care for either color & at their price I was going to be happy with it all or skip it. Actually,I believe the Withings wasn't that less expensive.

Unlike the Pulse, I have never lost the SmartHealth watch because I keep strapped to my wrist.
