As you know I live in a large building with people of all ages. A former neighbor died the weekend before last, her friend found her - she was 47, she still lived in town here. Other neighbors are terminally ill, passing on; and one who lived upstairs had a stroke a few months ago and is in rough shape. It makes me realize that having the best health possible and getting that in control with one's weight and by not drinking or smoking I am doing the best to have good health. The weather here - in no uncertain terms just plain sucks, it is too cloudy, all weekend and Friday and today and it looks like rain so it's not wise to go for a walk. We've had the worst spring here, no warm weather but a few days. It is not terribly cold, but many recent years the trees have been almost all full-bloomed by now, and this year it has been slow to say the least. I definitely will move to a warmer climate once I can afford it. Hope everyone is well, happy Monday...

Glenn, it's hard when the weather is gloomy. I really hope that you get some sunshine soon my friend. You are doing great by getting and staying healthy.

Thanks Cindy and Bren - we had like one day it wasn't totally cloudy, just late in the day and that was Thursday. Really no sunshine since. At least the reservoirs will be filled up hopefully with enough water for the summer season. Last year we had a fairly warm springtime as I went swimming in a lake in the mountains and the water was so warm for June. I hope it warms up in May. Toto is sleeping now, she has enjoyed two walks and kept me up last night with her collar. Today I said just two words: "Toto, treat". She jingled her collar to signal yes, she understood right away what I meant, usually I just say "treat" or "go outside" and she'll let me know what she wants if she is pestering me...

The sun came out today and it is in the 70s at long last. It is the first really warm day this year; I have the fans on and windows open, the trees are blooming rapidly and I saw a blue jay today for the first time this spring. I may restart Atkins once I get going if calorie counting doesn't work. I like pizza and french fries and pasta too much for now. There are so many diets, my metabolism is a bit slowed down by meds so I have to be careful. Two women lost lots of weight whom I know, maybe surgeries were done - they're THIN - and both look good now, though sometimes too thin as one gets past forty makes one look older in age. I saw my parents on Easter. Neither looks their age so I have good genes in that respect at least...
