No cardio last night. Legs were WAY too sore. HVT is definitely tough on the body, but boy is it effective. Exciting changes are happening.
Next week I will be switching to a 5x5 scheme for a few weeks to keep my strength up.

Chad - is HVT lifting to failure with progression? i read somewhere the goal is to complete 100 reps in 6-9 sets of a specific lift? that's a sh*t ton of volume. Wow. More power to you. I'd only be able to tackle that once a week, for any body part.

Re: the progression part --- second part of that question was ... or do you keep the same load and just try to bang out the 100 reps in a specific number of sets?

I do a bi-weekly load increase, but I'll do 1 warm-up set of 30 reps for each exercise, and then 5 sets of 15 at the same load so it ends up being 75 reps in 5 sets. For example, a usual leg day for me is barbell squats, 1x30, 5x15; barbell deadlifts 1x30 (usually just 95 lbs so I don't get exhausted), 5x15, and I finish up with a superset of leg extensions and leg curls 3x20-25 each. Calves are usually done both standing and seated 3x12 reps each to failure.

After every workout when I get home, I usually have to ask the assistance of my wife to remove my shirt because it is so soaked that I cannot get it off on my own, haha.

You can also look in my journal to see my HVT workouts, Ive been posting them for a few weeks now.

thanks for clarifying. i will check out your journals - while i may not undertake the volume you do, i can certainly get good ideas. i am in touch with assistance ... i do the same ... then ice EVERY joint - knees, elbows, shoulders.
