With a little encouragement from Sweet2th, I set out on my quest to run a 5K. I can do elliptical all day long at 85% max heart rate, but something about running justs doesn't sit well with me. Never the less, I WILL DO THIS! Got on the tread mill today and intended to walk 3 min, jog 1 min, repeat. I got thru 11 minutes and switched to the elliptical... just 2 jog sessions at 7 mph and I was beat!

Yay!!! How exciting for you! You'll be crossing the finish line before you know it! 7 mph seems a little fast to me. Remember to start out slowly and don't push yourself too much. Keep it to a pace where you can still talk a little while you're jogging. Starting out too fast and going too far is a recipe for injury and burnout. Best of luck to you!

Keep it up! Just add one additional minute on the treadmill and one less minute on the elliptical each day and you will have this quest complete before you know it.

Your killing it the only advice I can give you is start running outside, don't know what it is but there is a big difference between a treadmill and road work

Yes to running outside Rockiefan. I stole some running shoes from my son's closet Saturday night (shock! I have NO RUNNING SHOES!) and ran 1/2 mile in 5 minutes.. so 6 mph, then walked home at about 4 mph. Sweet2th, I picked 7 mph on the treadmill because anything slower and it feels like I am pounding my body into the treadmill.. 7 mph and i get to open my stride and not pound so much. Will try another outdoor run tonight if I get the chance and see if I feel better!
