TXSnowman's Journal, 15 October 2014

Well, I'm back (more or less) for the next 10 days. No internet access in the mountains and even cell service is very spotty, so I've not been able to enter anything in FS or read or reply to any posts.

I was pretty well behaved in elk camp. I hiked 4 to 5 miles every morning and evening in the mountains. Ate fairly well, except for a glut of corn chips most days. However, since I returned late last week, I've been working crazy hours getting clients returns filed prior to the extension deadline which expires at midnight tonight. I've been eating mostly poorly and not exercising at all for about a week. After that short of a time, I feel puffy and bloated.

I refuse to regress. I started watching what I'm eating again as of this morning and I've eliminated most high-glycemic carbs again. I'll start working out again in the morning and get this back under control before I leave for 3 straight weeks of travel beginning 10 days from now.

The wife and I are going camping this weekend. Since we're taking the travel trailer, I'll be able to eat well and there are great hiking trails at the lake were heading to, so the dogs and I will be able to get our exercise in.

I hope to be better behaved on my next mountain trip at the end of the month. I'll try to stay away from the Tostitos this time. Twelve hours after returning from New Mexico, we fly to Dallas/Fort Worth for our annual convention. We'll be staying at the Gaylord Texan Resort. Although I'll be able to work out in their fitness center, the food during the convention is mostly provided for us, so we don't always get the best (ie Low-Carb) choices. Flying straight from Dallas to Michigan to spend the following week in Detroit. I'll be able to make my own food choices, but the workout options will be very constrained.

I need to be very diet conscious for the next month because Mid-November is the start of the annual Holiday Eating Season. Cookies, Cakes, big family meals and all of those tempting goodies. I need to go into that 6 week long "food mine-field" on the top of my game. Eating well, exercising daily and not so prone to the carb pitfalls.

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful hump-day and that the rest of your week goes well for you.
