I am so confused!

Yesterday I saw Dr Oz's guest that was the author of Wheat Belly.

He was admonishing Wheat, but in a big way. In the same way you'd admonish nicotine.

(speaking of which there's a class action suit of billions of $ here in Canada against tobacco companies which will be decided soon)

Anyway, I've been having symptoms and because I'm a true believer that symptoms can be cured through food and exercise, I just don't know who to believe anymore. I was planning on going vegetarian.

It's part of my make up to get the most bang for my buck. Meaning, if I'm going to eat (and I will) I want to have the best possible eating regimen possible for my health. And I just don't know who to believe anymore.

My symptoms are those of osteoarthritis in the knees that were gone for a good while but came back all of a sudden in full swing. Is it because I started eating wheat regularly (which I had cut) or because of stopping my swimming.

Also a rash that lasted for 20 years that had vanished after I quit smoking, Cleared up for years, then came back after eating garlic regularly. Cleared up again, then now came back (I've been eating All-Bran daily) I know the rash is a symptom and not a disease of itself.

It's enough to drive you crazy.

I know it can get overwhelming when you're wading through a long, painful list of symptoms, you know your diet is mostly to blame, but you just don't know where to start to figure out what is best for you to live an optimally healthy life. That's exactly where I was 3 years ago. I had painful arthritis and a mysterious rash for 25 years that came and went and caused all kinds of havoc in my life. It seems as though every "expert" has a cure-all diet book to sell and you don't know who to believe. It took me 3 years of reading, reading and more reading to find what works best for me. I can point you in the right direction of where to find information if you're interested.

the knees and rash are both wheat symptoms. you can do a blood test if you want to make sure! I did something called the alcat and it tests for food sensitivities. it tests hundreds of foods and spices . . . . . i didn't see the dr oz show but if you like to read online there's an eating trend called the whole 30; interesting ideas ....

@Sweet2th / Yes I'd love info, if it doesn't inconvenience you to share it. @Tulipgirl6 / I've given up the wheat and my rash and sore knees did clear up. The only source I was eating was All-Bran in the morning. I also was taking brewer's yeast in powder form with water (triple yuck!) for the vitamins. (My hair is thinning - the age factor - and my sister sais it improved hers) So, I wonder if it's both that caused the rash, or just one. I'll start incorporating yeast to see what gives. I apologize for taking so long to answer and thank you very much for your comments and willingness to help.
