I am curious why we feel deprived when on a diet - even if you are eating enough and eating healthier. Is is just a mind game that we thing we deserve to feel overstuffed with fat, salt and sugar. I really am trying to find the answer to this. I don't think low sugar alternatives help as I can rationalise that if it is low anything I can eat more of it. Need to get the brain back to mindful eating as I have 4 kilo's to go and this time I really want to do without grimacing. :-)

I never feel deprived, nothing is off limits to me if I so choose. I changed my way of eating to be healthier for life not a diet with an end game. I also started exercising for life. I choose to eat healthy whole non processed foods. If I decide ice cream is part of my plan one day or three days, it's ok. I chose that and will adjust my calorie count for the week accordingly. have lost 60 pounds, not all logged in fat secret, am at goal, continuing logging foods, continuing my plan. Mindful eating yes, not deprivation. Sugar substitutes are not very healthy, imo

thanks everyone - you don't want to be obsessive about food and diet but I do have to be mindful and I do have to keep telling myself that the goal is to get rid of the fat blanket and SHINE!! get on with loving my life :-)

What is your eating plan?

1200 Calorie Count.. but you have to be truthful. If you go over that every damn day you will not lose weight. One bad day a week doesn't hurt but 5-7 do. I have done all sorts of diets really - low carb I lived that way for years and its so difficult to maintain. This way you still have a little bit of everything. I going to keep on keeping on even though most difficult for thing for an Aussie culturally is not drinking!! must be honest the grog is loaded with carbs and empty calories. :-) such a shame.

Try to average over the week. Yup the booze is loaded with calories. Have had too much beer this past vacation week. No more for me for awhile.
