I hope you all saw my earlier post about ClassicRocker. She is not well. Please keep her in your prayers. She saw the doctor yesterday and will see him again today. No answers as yet. She's become a very good friend and I know how much this community means to her.

The only thing consistent in my life right now is inconsistency. Yesterday we trundled off to get a load of firewood. We got half a load and it was very wet. It had rained all night the night before, so rather than finish the load we decided to head up to have a look at the huckleberry patch and see if the fruit was still good. It was in spite of the fact that it had SNOWED and the snow was still hanging in the trees. I picked a few berries. I didn't have a bag so I just ate them. The wife decided to take the 30-30 and have a look over top of the hill to see if there was a bear. There was, but she couldn't get onto him. We want to try bear sausage which we've had and is very good. I was kind of happy that she didn't get him as it was getting later in the day. We got in the truck and started back down the hill. A half a mile down toward the main road, she shot a 200 pound boar black bear. He was prime.

You know, I keep telling her to only shoot things up hill from the vehicle. She keeps shooting down the hill. What can I do... she knows how to handle a gun. Anyway, I spent the next 45 minutes doing HIT dragging that critter up the hill to our truck. Good workout. Back is aching today. :)

Bear sausage sounds interesting. I'd guess it has more fat content than venison? Better stay on the good side of your wife!
