I thought once weight goal is obtained, we are suppose to at 500 calories to our total from when losing weight? but i noticed that the difference between losing weight at 1200 calories (0.4-1.4 loss) and me gaining weight like last night gained 0.4 but only ate 290 calories over my weight loss allotment so odd, maintenance is going to be difficult for me i can see. (when i get there)

You can't really count weight loss or gain over a one day period ... an individual's body weight can fluctuate from 0 to 4 lbs over 24 hrs due to water retention, exercise (or lack thereof), sweating, humidity, etc etc etc. The other thing is that sometimes we hit plateaus. If you're still trying to lose, you may need to switch up the types of food you are eating or the kind of exercise you are doing to "jumpstart" your body back into weight loss. Our bodies are so funny that way, they get in a rut sometimes....

Nope, you have no way of knowing a pattern for one day. Maybe it was just too much sodium yesterday or hormones or a host of other factors that can make your weight fluctuate. Once you get to goal. You slowly add in 100 calories a week to get your body used to more calories (per day). And increase it each it week. You will eventually figure out the balance that is right for you.
