Emerald17's Journal, 20 May 2014

Got about 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night, since 4month old seems to be going through something and woke up 3 times. I had to wake up at 6a.m. to bring kindergartener to school and then head straight to mine and my 4-month old's doc appointments. It was a very long day. It didn't help that I ended up eating more than I planned to. At the restaurant we went to for a late breakfast, I tried to order semi-healthy (Ham & green chili omelet). I really wanted the big plate of biscuits & sausage gravy + hash browns + eggs....but opted for the omelet since I figured it wasn't as fattening as the biscuits and sausage gravy alone. BUT....what I didn't realize is that it came with a large thing of hash browns AND two fluffy buttermilk pancakes. (No, it wasn't IHOP. It's a local town breakfast and grill; that apparently serves HUGE plates of food for much cheaper than most places.) I'm sure you're thinking: "Well, you could choose not to eat everything"....and you'd be right. But....I ate everything. I hate wasting money and I hate wasting food. (I was born in a 3rd world country, so I grew up being taught not to waste anything. Not that it's my mother's fault that I ate all of my food. It's just my mind that has stuck with that thought.) So I ate the whole damn thing. :( Go ahead and scold me. It might make me try harder. Also, I had a headache the whole day; which I was afraid would turn into a migraine and it did. :( To make matters worse, I had forgotten to replenish my travel migraine medicine, so I had to wait until I got home---which was around 6:30p.m. I get migraines, usually, for one of two reasons. 1)I skip a meal or don't eat enough....(which is yet another reason why I scarfed down my food. I didn't just eat all of it. I ate it FAST. I thought maybe I had been hungry. Which I was. and 2)Lack of sleep. If I don't sleep well for 2-3 days, it catches up to me in the form of a terrible migraine. Well, I couldn't figure out which reason it was. Maybe it was actually both this time since my baby hasn't been sleeping well for the past few nights. Either way, that headache-turned-to-migraine DID.NOT.HELP. :( HOWEVER.....I managed to force myself to workout this evening!!! :D The meds lessened my migraine just "enough" to make it manageable; and wutta ya know....I can barely feel it now! :) Thank goodness! (My migraines have been known to last 3-4 days....BEFORE I finally got prescription meds for them.) Anyway, I'm sure this workout won't make me lose all the weight I'm trying to lose, but I'm glad I got it in. I'm just hoping I won't be too disappointed when I weight myself tomorrow.... :(

Don't beat yourself up. Caring for two, little ones without much sleep is one of the toughest things you can do. Some days you just do your best and look forward to the next day. We are pulling for you!

Thank you. It's just hard to stay positive when it feels like you're not getting anywhere no matter how hard you try. :( I actually have 3 kids (but one is in school for most of the day), so I try to sneak in as much stuff in between nap times, feeding times/lunch, and picking him up from school. I try, but sometimes it feels like my best isn't good enough.

Your best is good enough. I have 4kids, but youngest is 8. I remember those days. Try to have fun when you can.
