Jackal187's Journal, 26 April 2014

I work for an HVAC company and sometimes I am in the office and sometimes I am in the field. what sucks is that when I am in the field my coworkers want to get something quick and easy which means fast food and usually, we go to a place with no salads which I am accustomed to eating when I am in the office. I try to make the best decision and go for what has the fewest carbs, sometimes it doesnt go so well. one thing I have noticed though is that when I eat a fair amount of meat I usually gain a noticeable amount of weight for a day or two, where as if I eat a salad I usually lose that weight the next day since lettuce is mostly water anyways.

This relates to date night with my wife which we have about twice a month. We both are on a diet, however when we go out we usually choose the wrong thing and go with a meat or carb heavy meal instead of choosing a salad. This is our down fall, we have discussed it and we both agree that we both need to start ordering the salad when we go out from now on. I guess we will just have to wait and see if we can have a little self control.

I usually weigh myself every morning, however due to date night last night I am going to postpone entering my weight for a day or two.

Remember everybody 2014 is your year to shine!!! Good luck and make this your year.

Back in the 1970s, after reading Dr. Atkins book, "The Diet Revolution", I started eating a lot of cheese, meat and fish. Not being a big salad fan, and having an egg allergy, there were some restrictions, and I used to get funny looks back then, ordering hamburgers (without the bun, catsup, or anything but the cheese). The weight dropped and those days I was running, so it shed faster. Now, being an old fart of 73, with a couple of artificial hips, I haven't run for years, but still follow a low-carb diet (unless a binge kicks in once in awhile). Another good thing I've tried is eating tomatoes with almost every meal (I'm still on the road a couple of times a month and find breakfast in restaurants a breeze with sausages and slices of tomato to wash 'em down). Congratulations on the booze campaign, I was a practicing piss-head until close to a couple of years after our first son was born (Sep 1973), yeah, I know ancient history. Hang in on that tack, my friend, if we can do a month, we can do a lifetime; and it justs get better. Best of luck and give 'er hell.
