mommadonna67's Journal, 08 April 2014

So, my first night shift didn't go very well as far as being able to eat snacks/dinner regularly. I had been there nearly 6 hours when i finally ate a snack. Then it was only because I could feel that my blood sugar was getting low and was starting to feel nauseous. I made good choices, I had brought my own food for the most part and made a salad from the cafeteria to go with my grilled chicken. Then I never got to have a snack after my dinner break, so I was famished again by the time I left.
I think it may take some getting used to, but that it shouldn't take too long to get the hang of trying to balance the meals and snacks through my shift.
Since I am back to work tonight, I am off to prepare some foods!!

Yep, I took a yogurt with me last night so that I had something easy, plus veggies and grilled chicken for dinner. Then When i got to the cafeteria to visit the salad bar, I just made my own salad and ate that. Bad part about only getting 30 minutes to eat is that there is little time to warm anything up. I don't think I want to eat salads every night at work though, so I will be cooking and freezing some meals for the next couple of days to get myself more prepared for night shift lunch breaks! We have a mini crock pot that I could put soup in, a microwave and I think there is a George Foreman too(although that would take too long). Point is, I have options and just need to figure out how to put them to work in my advantage.
