graciepoo's Journal, 22 February 2009

My mom just left to go back home. We had a great long weekend together. My kids LOVED the visit as usual. I did OK on food, not great. And didn't exercise all weekend but did lots of walking while shopping. We went to Ellijay yesterday and got a 1/2 bushel of apples. We cooked a lot at home so those meals were healthy.

I have made a huge decision that has been weighing on my mind heavily. My husbands grandmother had a stroke last month and has been in rehab/physical therapy for the past month. She is now ready to go home but has to have round the clock care. I have thought long and hard and finally decided to offer my time to help with this matter. This has been a huge decision b/c as most of you know, I have been home with my kids for the last 3 years, and my 2 year old son has NEVER stayed with anyone outside of our immediate family. But I feel like he is getting bored, I am getting burnt out, and we most definitely could use the extra money. And it would save the family about 1/2 what they would have to pay someone else to take care of her. I would work there with her from 8-5 and then someone else would care for her at night. I am really nervous about the whole situation but I really feel like this is the right thing to do. She will be 90 next month, so by no means will this be an easy task. So, lots of changes are fixing to happen in my life. I am really sad to not be home with my kids anymore, but I also desperately need a change of scenery.

Well, fingers crossed for tomorrow's weigh-in!!

Re: Grandmother-in-law: It's what love and life is all about Gracie and probably what's best for everyone at this point in your lives. Good show. You can always modify things later as you go along...

being cared for by family is so much better than being cared for by people who don't give a darn about them. You are doing a wonderful thing and Im sure it will be appreciated even if it isn't verbally spoken to you. I wish you the best, its not easy but can be very rewarding not just finacially...but in the heart too
