Good morning everyone! How are all of my favorite people? I am well. No preschool on Thursdays so this morning I get to lounge for a while. How luxurious! I have an appt. to get my taxes prepared this afternoon, then of course I work evenings. Why isnt it Friday yet?? I went to be at 9:30 last night, so six a.m. didnt feel quite so bad when the alarm went off. Working hard at the gym has its perks, and a sound nights sleep is one of them. Yesterday I did forty-five minutes worth of intervals w/ resistence on the precor, upper body strength training, and a twenty minute speed walk. I was exhausted last night lol.

I ate a little off plan yesterday evening but it wasnt bad. I had a serving of pretzels and some glazed walnuts. I just had to have something. Food is getting low today, not sure what im going to able to figure out for dinner. Troubling times in the kingdom lol.

So Ive made a lot off changes in the last year, I didnt really give up anything I loved except for pop. I have not had a "diabetes special" pepsi in almost a year. I dont even remember what it tasted like, I dont miss it. I do indulge in diet soda from time to time but its not a frequent occurrence. Ive also given up sugary calorie dense flavored creams in my coffee. It didnt take me long to pitch those when I realized I was drinking four hundred calories in my coffee. I now use powdered non dairy creamer, and its odd how much ive learned to enjoy it. I always thought my grandma was gross.... now im my grandma lol. I cant say that I have given up fast food or pizza or chinese carry out because I havent, but delivery guys dont know me by the sound of my voice over the phone anymore lol and I cant remember the last time I went through a drive through. Wine, I still drink quite a bit of that lol but Im not partying it up every weekend. Im still trying to readjust my relationship with food and not make it the focal point of every occassion. Date night, what are we going to eat? Having friends over, what are we going to eat? Its alwaysfood and im trying to break that mindset. There has to be something other than food lol.

Which brings me to valentines day lol... yummy. There will be no special date night for the hubs and I but I do want to do something a little special. Maybe I will grab some steaks at the meat market and grill them up when I get home from work. In case you didnt know, im almost an iron chef lol not much I dont do in the kitchen. I have to get him a card yet, and probably a gia t heart shaped reese peanut butter cup lol. He has something special for me, he has been planning it for months since we didnt have the funds to buy a lot of each other for christmas... I think its a body media armband which I so desperately want. I will be happy even if its not, but im pretty sure it is lol. I told him if he is going to get me chocolate to get me a small amount of a quality brand and NOT to send flowers. Flowers were sixty bucks last year, thats just insane. Im cheap lol.

See, its still a lot about the food lol Im trying, still learning.

Have a beautiful day, loves!

We don't really do anything for Valentine's, I'd much rather do something special on a random day, not feel obligated just because it's Valentine's. I'm a Valentine's scrooge I guess. :)

It is hard not to make food the main event on special occasions and get-togethers, especially when I'm surrounded by a lot of good cooks and foodies! But as long as everyone enjoys each other's company it's not too hard to find something else to keep busy with.

It's horrid the way they price gouge right here at Valentines, isn't it?? Sorry, that's my rant, not yours - I just find it aggravating that the same beautiful dozen roses I've been buying myself every 7-10 days for a couple of months now are DOUBLE the cost because of VDay - poor guys trying to buy roses for their sweeties - it's not fair. I think you've made wonderful steps toward better changes and applaud you for recognizing them not 'well, if I can't be perfect I'll not try at all'. My friend the AdRep is dating a girl with a healthy WOE too so I warned him to side step the sweets ... maybe get her things like rose petal shaped soaps for a nice relaxing bubble bath, couples massage, etc. Like you, I am trying to wrap my head around holidays and events without having food be the center guest at them... they just need to be maybe a 'plus one' from time to time, right? Ok, I'll hush now :-)

I do like that you admit that really when it comes to food you have not given up anything (except pop) and by the way what part of the country are you in because I call it pop too and usually get weird looks from the East coast people I know who seem to call it soda. Anyway, I haven't given up eating anything but I will say it is much easier for me as we don't have a lot of selection in this house. You are right about some who think the only way to lose weight is starvation. That doesn't work because eventually you are gonna eat. As far as Valentine's day, I ruined that years ago by getting married on Valentines day. It hasn't been a day worth celebrating since. Enjoy your "me" time and have a great day!

I am the opposite of that!. Ill also make veggies (prob broccoli) But instead of mashed potatoes or rice I will have a large salad on the side!

Awe, come on mars! Sure we could do something nice for each other on some random day BUT my husband isn't a hopeless romantic so he needs this little day to remind him to appreciate my awesomeness!! He isn't obligated, he could totally take the other option... certain death lol I agree Emma, I try to stay occupied with other activities and conversations too :-) Bella you could comment for days, no need to hush! Thank you for your kind words! I'm from Ohio, Bea. We all say pop, although I will say soda if I'm feeling fancy lol, doesn't it sound like it should be said by someone with a british accent.. "soda, my lady?" lol. I don't keep any junk in my house, as it makes it a lot easier to resist temptation if there is none there, plus it saves me money lol. Don't let one bad marriage ruin your valentines day :-) I would send roses to each and every one of you if they weren't sixty bucks a dozen!!

I hope so too Jess!! lol I think I'll go with some salad as well, but I'll have to do some type of potato for Brad. I'll ponder on it for a while, maybe ask the gods their opinions and see if I get a response lol
