Gained 3# since last week. Can't understand it since I've been 100% faithful to the food and the exercise. Very depressing. It makes me want to quit. The harder I try, the less improvement I see. I try to blame it on the prednisone that I must take daily for my polymyalgia, but that's probably a co-out. I'm going to hang in there and see if there's any improvement.

It's not a cop out. Prednisone can cause weight gain and make it harder to lose. It's a reality. It doesn't mean it's impossible. You might try talking to your doctor about what the best way to lose while on the medication would be. You might try playing around with calories. You might try lower carb. Exercise (if possible) would probably help a lot too.
