My kindy walk yesterday was all up 11000 steps and according to the pedometer 448cal. Fatsecret said 321 so i will just go with the lower one to be sure.
I was absolutely exhausted and in bed by 8:30 pm!
I have to do it all again today though and stick to it atleast for the first term because i don`t want to give up!
I think pushing the pram adds alot of exercise because i can feel it in my arms and abs today so it`s like an all over mini workout!I worked out if i have both girls in the pram plus all their gear it`s roughly 40kg including the weight of the pram!

I would check it against some other websites that base your energy used off of your weight and height so you have a closer idea to what your body would have burned. Someone 50 pounds heavier is going to burn more since the are carrying more weight.

Yes i'll check i had to enter my weight in the pedometer and age and even stride length so i was hoping it would be accurate.

I would think it would be if you had to enter all of that information first.

Careful with recovery Ninaj! That is some serious exercise for someone who is not used to those distances. If you feel too much muscle fatigue you better use transportation day in day out until you are fit enough to do it every day :) I remember once walking so much that all my body ached lol.

The problem is that, even if you get the most accurate of measures for calories spent (for example using one of those heart-rate monitors from polar etc), There is always also your basal metabolic rate and also the after-burn effect from the exercise itself, which ends up "destroying" that accuracy heheh. It's good to know it accurately as a curiosity though, despite the fact that, the best way to adjust one's RDI is probably by gauging your body's weight gain or loss. In my case for example, fatsecret almost always says I'm at a calorie deficit, even despite the fact that I don't include other non sport activities such as resting, sitting, etc lol and, even so, I gain weight sometimes and find the need to lower my RDI. This is why I say "don't trust the sum of calories spent too much, as a measure to calculate your RDI" ;)

It still has limitations even despite all that information Ninaj. It doesn't know your heart rate for example ;)

I am used to about 40min walking a day(with pram and kids) anyway so i should get used to it soon! Yes it is a bit of a trial and error with the RDI and deficit!

Oh, never mind what I said then! I thought you were going to start this out of the blue without previous training ;)

No I'm used to pushing heavy pram lol;-) But you are right about muscle recovery time I''ll only be doing it 2-3 times a week plus I'm really lazy on weekends and we drive everywhere;-)

I've never thought about the weight of prams but it makes sense :). Yeah, when one does the same exercise every day, muscle fatigue sets in and one has to be careful with injuries by listening to pain etc but, if you feel no pain while doing it, I think you should have no problem :). There's also always the option to go slower heheh. But yeah, it also makes sense to give yourself a break especially because walking can be time consuming :)
