Sasha-Anne's Journal, 29 January 2014

So i haven't been updating this properly but I've always been here, reading everyone's progress! I decided today to update my weigh ins and have the correct date beside them in my diary but I see they're all comin up in the news feed so sorry if it looks confusing!! I finally seem to have most of the evil depo injection out of my system and I am some happier for it, it's only now looking back I really see the damage it did to me, not just physically but emotionally too.. I feel like it's been a roller coaster but thank god things are looking up! Most of the weight loss would be down to things I've done to rid myself of the drug (reflexology, taking cod liver oil and flaxseed) but I have improved my diet a lot, I even make homemade healthy ice cream so that I'm not snacking on bad stuff!! I thinking gonna update this a bit more now.. I haven't just got a weightloss goal but a fitness and muscle gain goal, I know how I want my body to look and I am actually looking forward to working and earning my way there. I'm feeling positive!! It would be great to have a proper fitness buddy on this so msg me if you want, either way I'm gonna keep coming here and talking to myself :)

Hi Sash-Anne. I am here most days, sometimes I just read a lot, sometimes i write a lot. Depends on my mood. But I do love my fitness :). Trust me , there are plenty of people reading what you have to say , so altough you feel you are talking to yourself...you are not :) Writing is a great why to get things of your chest and out of your mind :).

Hi Sasha-Anne, You're not talking to yourself :) Hope your fitness goals are going well x I am 44 this week. I was slightly overweight when I was younger. At 24 I was a slim fitness gal - all muscle and felt fabulous for it. This was achieved through eating well and exercising 6 days a week. I met my husband when I was 25 and then my weight was in a slow decline for 10 years. I too used the "evil depo" for 4 years in my late 20s / early 30s. It is a bugger. Then at 33 I had our second child and at 34 I lost all the weight an a fad diet and was a skinny minx (not firmed up though) :( Now almost 10 years on I decided at Christmas that I would go back to 24 or 34 years of age (yep! I'm into turning back the clock!!It's never too late to want to be your best) but this time I will be firm and fit within my 44th year and I will maintain it once it's here again. I've done the 10 year cycles a few times around and now it's going to be permanent - "I've decided!!" I have 2 daughters. One is a teenager and one is 10 years old. I have a responsibility to be a good example. Their friends already think I'm a "yummy mummy" so I have an "image" to maintain - lol! At my age it is getting close to being serious with health factors so I am serious about this even though I am currently very healthy (thank goodness). It will be a lifestyle change as I know that success will only come if I exercise and eat correctly. I have done it before and this time I am determined to do it once and for all. I associate with your battle and I am sure that you can do this if you keep up the exercising and healthy eating. If I'm not considered too old to be your fitness pal, let's connect to keep one another motivated x Kelly x

Hi Kelly! Of course you're not considered too old!! Are you mad?! I'd love to have you as a fitness pal :) I've finally got the right mindset to this whole weightloss thing, and honestly it was more of a mental battle! The depo did so much damage to me on the inside, I didn't realise till after how down I felt on a daily basis with no reason for it..I mean, I know the weight gain was a bit upsetting but it wasn't that, it was like there was a cloud over my ability to feel happiness! Maybe that sounds a bit dramatic?! But I'm so glad to be getting rid of it and feeling positive..I hope your struggle with it wasn't as bad as mine, I bled for about 11/12 weeks straight before I had a few days break and even Now it's on/off every few days which is a bit draining! At least inn terms of weightloss/fitness the scale is going the right way!! I think I need to up my exercise now to really see some results and hopefully be more body confident by summer.. I think it's great that you're setting a good example for your daughters, and it's a great feeling to finally just wake up and think, "I've decided!".. It feels like an epiphany!! I have about 10lbs to lose but as I'm toning too I not gonna obsess about the number, I have clothes I know I want to fit in to and that's good enough for me! 2014 is our year!! :)

Yay! You have a great attitude Sasha-Anne.We can do this! I have started to tell my close friends that I haven't got as much time as usual because I am spending at least an hour 6 days a week to work out and they've all been really supportive. Today (Sunday) I have completed 2 workouts on Zumba wii and I feel pooped! Time to treat myself for good behaviour now :) Gonna do a pedicure in a short while so I look better even if I still feel pooped :) Wishing you a good day whether it be one of rest before you hit the gym next week or one of activity. Take care x

PS The depo makes you really flat and "down". I felt "elated"" once off it. I worried slightly because it took me 11 months to return to normal cycles but doctors said this was normal. After 2 cycles I fell pregnant so that made me even happier :) and therefore I look back and remember coming off depo as a win win situation. I wouldn't recommend it to any woman.... life looks a lot brighter after coming off depo....so hope you feel that too x
