HealthyBabs's Journal, 09 January 2011

WOOT !!!! Down 6 lbs since coming home from vacation, 4 left to go to get back to pre-vacation weight. Boy, that was depressing to come home to those numbers! 10 lb gain in 12 days!!!! I have come to the conclusion that I had retained alot of water weight which flying always does to me, I didn't drink nearly enough water in those 12 days, and my food choices were probably not the best they could have been. On the plus side I did get lots of exercise.
So, I have spent the weekend rereading my journals from 6 months ago when I was being highly successful in achieving loss. What I have deduced is that I was eating more calories then so I am bumping my calories to 2000-2200/day and the amount of calories burned needs to be 2600-2800/day. I have struggled with trying to find the right balance but from everything I have been reading is that to avoid stalling you should burn about 500-600 more than you take in. That seems to have worked for me in the past. So, I will go with that and see how it goes.
I have reset my goals and I have decided not to make them about losing a specific amount of weight by a certain date. I want to make them more memorable and eventful, so my next goal will be to start doing 5k's in 2011. I may not be running the first few, but I will certainly be able to power walk 3.1 miles and work up to the running.

Thats awesome news!!! Wow i'm so happy and proud of you! I agree that water weight was probably the culprit. I have a heck of time flying because of my condition because of the retention and the effects it can have on me. As for the goal idea, I love it. I think you know how I feel about walking and running and how that is a huge goal of mine! Maybe we can mark down a 5k as an milestone we both hit this year! We can do it! Oh when you can do that power walking, try C25k. It was REALLY working for me even at 390 pounds!

Great job, Babs....I know what you mean about stepping on that scale after the holidays...I am working to get my weight back down again also...I am eating about 1500 calories a day, about 500-600 less than my RDI. That seems to be working at this point...we shall see if it continues. lol Good luck with the 5k's this year...my sister has invited me to try that, we shall see! She runs, I don't. lol

@King-Definately put a 5k on your calendar! I already looked at C25K and that is very doable for me to start now, just gotta get off my ass today and get'er started! @ctlss-You are going to do as great as you have done last year. You can absolutely walk the 5k, let your sis run if that is her druthers!

Way to go Babs!!! :D 6lbs is Awesome! As for the 5k, me and my sister are suppose to be doing on in March. Though I'll probably be walking most of it. ^.^ I've never been in one, but I have cheered from the sidelines quite a few times for my sister.

Well I know for sure I'm doing one on thanksgiving. Have a whole team with me and all! So that's my goal to run one officially. I've been walking 10k for some time now so I just need to get my body trained to run!

You must be so PROUD!! To see a drop like that! Of course, that gain was hard to see, no doubt. But as you said, a lot could have been water retention and just that whole change in routine. But a drop like that? So nice to keep that motivation high and the attitude positive, huh? If it makes you feel any better, it seems that most people here gained some weight over the last month anyway.. I know I did! Nice on the goal setting, too!
