I ABSOLUTELY HATE having a sweet tooth that is never satiated. I feel I am sabotaging myself here. Sometimes I will eat fruit or drink a diet coke with splenda and that helps curb the cravings for sweets. However, I don't have either of those with me at work today so I reached for what I did have.....a bag of jelly beans in my desk drawer. I ate a couple small handfuls, which probably equals out to a serving or a little more (I didn't count how many I ate). I have been doing really good since the challenge started and I was super proud of myself, up until now. I feel that this is my downfall every time. Even last night after I had eaten supper and I was sitting on the couch watching TV, before I knew it I had ice cream in my hand. I can do really well for a couple of days but after that I start craving sweets hardcore and it all goes downhill from there. I am looking for a way to help get rid of these sweet cravings. I don't want to eat sweets, I don't need them, but my body seems to think I do. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Atkins Peanut Butter Cups and Atkins Peanut Candies (chocolate covered peanuts) are a lifesaver to me to stay on track

Replace those jelly beans at work with trail mix. That has a little sweets with good nuts. Also become a popcorn eater. No or low fat micro popcorn can get you through several TV shows.

You're not alone....It's the same for me! I keep sugar free jello in my cupboard and desk - the ones that are prepackaged and don't require refrigeration. They're not too bad. Also, My husband and I are ice cream freaks. LOL We have substituted Greek Yogurt with fruit and a few chopped nuts or granola on top. If you hypnotize yourself you might think it's a Sundae. If you GOTTA have the ice cream, the McDonald's ice cream cones will not do you damage. Good Luck!

For me it usually takes a good two weeks of no sugar (not even fruit) before I can break the sugar addiction. After that, I can start adding natural sugars back in and I do ok from there if I say away from the refined stuff.

It's going to sound silly, perhaps, but dried fruit has helped me. Apricots in particular. You can do it! Also consider finding something to do with your hands while you watch TV. When I am knitting I often forget to eat or drink, it's so engrossing. Some kind of craft, or even playing a game with a handheld device to distract yourself. If it's something you enjoy you won't be as easily seduced by sweets.

One of my nutrition books, don't remember which one, says that (odd as it sounds) when we lack bitters, we will crave sweets. Bitters can be any number of foods or herbs that are bitter. I get a small bottle of something like Swedish Bitters. A green bottle, that you add to food or drink, to get your daily healthy dose of bitters. https://www.google.com/search?q=swedish+bitters&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS503US503&espvd=210&es_sm=119&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=gT3QUprzDMnioASVroHABw&ved=0CEQQsxg Personally I only crave sweets when I don't eat a huge breakfast at the start of the day. and follow it up with a big lunch. I do take bitters though :)

Oh, the popcorn suggestion is great! If you can find it, I really like the Quinn brand - all-natural and you control the fat by adding the oil yourself after popping. Their maple/salt is awesome!
