Did you make those in the air fryer. Any tricks? I just tried airfryer for the first time yesterday and not totally sold but I think I am not doing it right. How do you cook your fish. And happy morning and happy Friday

I cut the potatoes, soaked in cold water, dried them off, misted with grape seed oil and cooked at 450 for 20 minutes. I did stop and check them at 10 minutes and turned them over by hand, but these turned out great without adding anything other than salt. Once you’re past the half way point, check them every two minutes. My fish was crusted tilapia. That’s 400 for 12 minutes consistently.

My hubby wants a air fryer. I’m unsure. Reviews say it will never ‘taste’ like fried, since it’s not. It’s air, not oil. I’m on the line. 🤔

It will never taste completely like traditional fried. But I’ve never fried on a regular basis anyways. It’s stinky and messy. This gets me get a crisp on a lot of things. If you already fry and don’t need to give it up, don’t.

I don’t fry and haven’t for years. Hate the stink and mess more than you. 🤪 A crisp is what we want but what does an air fryer do that an oven can’t? Shorten the time? Less heat I the house? Less electricity? These are my reasonings. Talk to me Kat. 😚

As I said I airfried for the first time yesterday and even if it was not quite successful I think I can see two thing it does... lower the amount of oil you need (even compared to oven baking) and also make you eat better portions because there is just so much that can fit in there and you tend to just cook the amount you plan to eat so no seconds! Not sure that one really, really need an airfryer but I will experiment more and see if I totally fall in love with it.

It totally lowers, if not eliminates, the need for oil on a lot of stuff. I use an oil mister and I put 1/2 cup of oil in there over the summer and it's still going. definitely less heat (depending on what you get) and it cooks so much faster than the regular oven and tastes better than the microwave which I rarely use anymore. it doesn't use a ton of electricity, looks like it spikes me to 1.9kW at lunchtime and my base usage is around .7kW, so that's 1.2kW for about 10 minutes. that said, I use this as a convection oven as much as an air fryer. it's a small, efficient oven and this one has heating elements on the top and the bottom. I can cook a chicken breast from frozen in 15 minutes and it tastes good. I can cook a whole 4 lb chicken in 45 minutes and not have to babysit it. I haven't tried a bigger chicken because 4-5 lbs is what they sell where I shop. I wouldn't get one that can't cook something the size of a chicken. nothing sadder than only being able to cook 1/2 a potato worth of French fries at a time. I do still like the Instant Pot air fryer lid as my starter solution, but I'm getting more use out of this countertop oven/air fryer. that said, watch videos. I found this channel when I was researching for mom, he's not flashy, but he does thorough reviews unlike the "watch me challenge myself trying to open a box" people. He just changed the name of his channel, so it took me a few to find him again. I'm guessing he's an engineer, probably QA, but he helped me pick a good one for my needs. https://www.youtube.com/c/WaveOvenRecipes/videos

I should mention that i cannot get my sweet potato fries as crispy as the ones you buy in the store. Still working on that.

My air fryer is like a small convection oven , since just me i use it a lot! Fries of any type go in a rotisserie round basket and turn out great! Nothing with a batter or breading though in that! It has a rotisserie spit and also skewers. It has several different trays and baskets and even has a toast setting. I use it instead of using my full oven in the stove for many meals during the week.

Same, WFN, i rarely use anything else except the stove top. Cheaper, easier, better results.
