Sandy701's Journal, 18 December 2010

Today DH and I went out to have lunch in honor of his birthday. We went to Ruby Tuesday's and I ended up ordering the broiled salmon. It came with broccoli (good) and mashed potatoes (not good). So when I ordered, I told them to skip the potatoes and either double the broccoli or add asparagus, which they did. DH ate both the garlic cheese rolls which looked good, but not quite good enough to really tempt me.

All in all, a very good lunch. I kept thinking that this is exactly the way it's supposed to be on Atkins. Nothing "out there" should be a real problem; one just needs to look ahead and plan to make solid choices. There's nothing wrong with ordering salmon and veggies rather than a loaded burger, or some type of breaded meat item, or a pasta dish or something smothered with some kind of thick sauce.

3.0 miles walked today with the doggies....had to cut 1 loop just a bit short due to a loose dog. The way the doggies are running around the house right now, you'd think they hadn't had a walk in years!!

Great lunch Sandy, I have always found Ruby Tuesdays to be most accomodating. They have some very figure friendly meal options.

So glad that you weren't tempted. You are very strong and I'm proud of you.:) To some people who don't know how to eat, that's all they know how to eat because they just don't know what REAL food is. Your pups are feeling great, I take it? When all mine get to playing in the house, it gets crazy.lol Sorry that you had to cut your walk short. Don't you just love the dogs that roam around with no owners? We have a leash law here but know one abides by it. Hope you had a great day my friend.:)

Thanks HBabs...we hadn't been at RT's in awhile so it took me a good bit of time to really scrutinize the menu for my best options. I probably should have looked at it online, but didn't this time. DH was considering going to a Chinese buffet but when he asked which I'd prefer, I didn't hesitate to say Ruby Tuesday's, even though lunch was really for him.

Yes, Laurie, my "pups" are feeling great! Luckily there are only 2 of them when they start playing this run-around, I'm-gonna-kill-you game. It's all good natured, with plenty of give and take and plenty of play bows, so nothing to worry about. Normally, they'd do this all outside but today, for some reason, decided to do the game in the house. There are lots of places for them to run big circles so they can take turns chasing each other. Then, as quickly as it starts, they both decide, "OK, that was fun, time to take a rest."
