Draglist's Journal, 15 November 2013

Down to 218.2 for a morning weigh in. Added a few hundred extra calories yesterday to bump up the protein a bit. Another super low cal day today. Been gaining and losing the same 10-12 pounds since July 4 (225.0 then). Targeting as close as I can get to a 1300 calorie average daily deficit in November and December, and that means super low cal, fasting weekdays to offset the holiday eating. Have a great weekend, everyone!
215.8 lb Lost so far: 109.2 lb.    Still to go: 10.8 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

You are doing great Bill. Yes its frustrating playing with the same 10 lb. I smile because you said you had been playing with it since July. When I went to Florida 2 years ago I was 183. So I've been playing with 20 lb for 2 freakin' years - yep YEARS. When will we ever learn. But I am DETERMINED to 'get er done" :)

Great comment Bill and much to consider. I am so pleased for you and proud of you. If no when you make it to 199 maybe that will be enough for you, especially as your health is SO good. And yes thanks for reminding me, I do eat so much better than I ever did. My darling husband has been so supportive and he has changed his eating about 50% initially to help me and now he's on board almost 90% with eating my way, low carb, basically and he is losing at a good clip. He is feeling so much better - wink, wink. So thanks for the reminder about the healthy eating. Yes I do slip, and I do eat stupid things, but like you we are living our lives, and the sweet/good stuff is part of life. We will just get there a bit slower. My original goal is 175 lb and I think at 57 years of age if I can reach 175 and slip into a comfortable size 14 I will be H A P P Y I can slip into a 14/16 now and my old man is happy as a clam with ho I look, so only about 15 pounds to go and I should be done, and living in maintenance. And heck I've been maintaining this weight for 2 years so it should be easy, yes? Ha Ha. See you later. xxxxx So glad you are my pal, I think you are super :) And one day we will get to DC and you and me, Denise and my DH (Keith) will go and have a fab dinner and a few McCallans (I know I spelt that wrong but you get the drift)

You are worrying me Bill. Watch that blood sugar. No point in going at this so hard that you make yourself sick.

And my husband is diabetic, on meds, a few years now, and has fought me all the way when I tried to tell him (because I am in the medical field) that he was doing everything all wrong. He saw a diabetic nurse recently who scared the crap out of him, and what do you know, I did know what I was talking about and he is finally eating better. Men, sometimes you guys can be so stubborn. But he has lost about 10 lb in 2 weeks. He has a lot to lose, poor guy, but if he can keep this up, he should be able to get off some of these bloody meds. He has just gone on a statin, about six months ago, and has developed some - shall we say - manly issues, that he isn't happy with, so if we can get him off these bloody drugs. But I could smack him because he could have had this fixed a few years back but wouldn't listen to me. Anyway, its all good, he's working hard, well eating right, we don't exercise, but at his weight I would be worried if he did exercise, but we could walk together I suppose. Might happen when he loses more. Blah, blah, blah. Sorry Bill I am home today and got too much time on my hands :) Hope you are feeling better after eating that protein bar. Did you ever find the Quest bars? They are low car, high fiber, 20g of protein each bar. i get mine online. About $3 a bar but so worth it.

Bill, look at the fiber too. High fiber means you can deduct the fiber from the carbs and makees the carb count easier to take. You know this, right, you just didn't mention it. Quest bars are about 18-20 gm of carbs but most are 17gm fiber so it's all good. I don't know if you can buy quest 'off the shelf'. I get mine on line at a Canadian low carb grocery site. Glad you got a coffee and added some fat to it. Good fat is great for keeping us going :) Have you tried coconut oil? I eat it off the spoon sometime :) And almond milk and chocolate protein powder - yum - I don't have much success in making a shake out of it, but it does make a great chocolate milk. How do you make a 'shake' - ie what do you add to thicken it:)

oh, thanks for the info on the shake, will try it that way. Thought maybe you added ice or something. And yes you can trust me on the carb/fiber thing. I lost 51 lb initially on Atkins, and subtracted fiber from all carb products that weren't fruit or veg. And I eat a Quest bar most days for my lunch and am still losing. And the coconut oil is an acquired taste in coffee that's for sure, but if you can get over the slightly slick 'feel' on your tongue, I love the taste of coconut and it's almost like icecream when cold from the fridge - almost - lol. Been thinking of adding it to low fat yogurt (can't get full fat yogurt here - thought it might add some flavour and up the fat content.
