2ManyCurves's Journal, 08 November 2013

I am so thankful it is Friday. This has been a long week (ok, well 2 weeks as I have been on-call the entire last 2 weeks). This should be the last football game of the season. I think the entire family is coming out to watch my boy play. I know he will be happy to see his aunts, uncles and grandparents out there supporting him. Saturday and Sunday look to be just as busy with his sports/activities. We will be out of town overnight Saturday. While I enjoy going away on weekends with my son (or daughter at her events), it always makes it more difficult to chose appropriate food. I looked up the restaurants surrounding our hotel. Of course there is a McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Time, Chinese Buffet, etc. No sit-down restaurants where I can order a sirloin or chicken breast. The event we are attending will of course have a concession stand where they will push hotdogs, nachos, and other not-so-healthy choices. These kids train year round to attend events and once they get there the food choices available are simply awful. I think I will try to pack some healthy snacks for us this weekend like apple slices with peanut butter, carrots, and maybe almonds. I can't take the whole can because I will graze on them until the can is empty. But I may take several sandwich baggies to portion out one ounce at a time. Tomorrow's dinner will be a bit of a challenge. The hotel room does not have a microwave or a range where I can cook in my room. While I do not rule out consuming any specific foods, with exception to soda pop (because I can't drink just one once I start), I intend on weighing myself Monday morning and would like to maintain my weekend consumption about the same as I do through the week. Exercise may also be a challenge. Since we do not have to arrive to the event until 2pm Saturday, I may well try to get in my exercise first thing Saturday morning and then late Sunday evening when we return. I mostly spend time at the event sitting as a spectator.

On another note, I really haven't seen my husband much lately. He is very busy with work and college. He has a huge exam on Monday so I have been trying to stay out of his hair so that he can study. I am praying he does well on the exam. He only has a month left of this semester. It has been a very rough semester and I have witnessed him dedicate himself to school while also focusing on his weight loss journey. His goal was to be 205. He is at 213 now. He looks amazing. Although I think that he looks amazing whether he weighs 265 or 213.

In exactly 7 weeks, we are taking our family vacation. I am hopeful this will give us some time to spend with each other without the stressors of our work and his school. I know I have fretted over the upcoming cruise vacation as far as whether I will gain weight in previous journals. But, I am so looking forward to the cruise now. I don't care about the food. I'm buying myself a spa pass and I am going to spend HOURS in the thermal suite, whirlpool (it has some fancy name that basically means whirlpool), and being pampered. I am looking forward to my husband walking the top level track with me in the evenings so that we get our exercise in while at the same time spend some much needed quality time together. Yesterday I printed out all of my information for the cruise as far as our itinerary and all of the excursion information for each port. In Cozumel, I am going for massages with my mother. The men folk have chartered a private fishing tour. And, the daughter is going to go frolic with dolphins for a few hours. In Grand Cayman, the entire family (except my brother and his fiance) are going on a three hour snorkeling tour. We are also going to Jamaica. I haven't been to Jamaica before. I did arrange for the entire family to have an independent tour where we will go to some place called The Blue Hole, grab lunch at some place authentic hopefully and then spend the rest of the day on a beach. I need this badly. Just to be able to breath in the ocean air. To not have to flip my lid when I get the call from the jerk I am forced to work with. Ah, yes, I need this badly. More than any lido deck buffet.

I hope the rest of you have a wonderful weekend.

With the snack foods, when I'm travelling for work (which I do a lot just now), I pre-grill chicken breast and take it along in 100g pieces. That + an apple is a pretty good meal that'll keep you full for ages. Hang in there by keeping in mind you in your swimsuit in Jamaica. It sounds, too, like you *really* deserve your cruise!

Chicken breast is a really good idea. Thank you! I may try that as I would prefer my snacks to be more protein based.

Yes, that cruise is just what you need! In the meantime, you can get grilled chicken breast from most of those fast-food places... Not optimal, but it can work in a pinch. Anyway, Keep smiling! You've got this.
