Today I reached my official 1 month on the
Atkins diet plan. I have taken off 15 pounds total & several inches (added together, of course). As fast as the weight went the first week, I expected much greater loss, but...I can't complain since I have averaged over 3# a week. My understanding is that is enough if you want to keep it off? I'm not hungry most of the time & when I do get hungry I get something like a heartburn feeling. Don't know if this is because the stomach is needing something to digest. I never did "do" hungry very well, but I have spent the last couple of years taking Pepcid AC almost every night to settle down heartburn, something I no longer take at all. Just don't need it. If I get that feeling a large glass of water will usually settle it down right away. I'm trying not to weigh myself more than once a week & actually do measurements once a month. Will be anxiously waiting to see what the 2nd month brings.

First off, WAY TO GO! It's funny that you've mentioned getting heart burn...I'm having the same thing, except I never used to get it before. I hate it when I do get it, because I take Tums and they have a carb in each serving!!!

I had HORRIBLE heartburn before starting Atkins. About three days into Atkins it was gone and never to return. Its great. I have had friends who had the same experience. Don't know why Reina is getting it so bad...will have to confer with her!! :) Anyway...you are doing GREAT!! And yes, slower is better...as with any change you make in life...if it goes slower it is more likely to become a habit and then part of your everyday life. When you get that feeling, eat a little something. That is not heartburn, its an empty stomach (its a feeling us people who are overweight often have forgotten!! ;)). Just a few bites will make you feel better. Remember, Dr. Atkins recommends not going more than 4 hours without eating. Congrats on the amazing progress!
