Feeling depressed today...sunburned and gained weight again.

I don't understand why I go up when I have been trying to be good. The only thing that I can think of is since the mosquitos hatched I haven't gone for a walk in the evening. I have to go pick up some things at a store tonight. Hopefully the walking there will make up for my not walking outside lately.

I ate the least amount that I have eaten yesterday...but evidently it must take a while to see the results of less food. Makes it hard to keep doing this...

Try not to beat yourself up too much. I know it's hard not to, but I've fallen off the wagon too many times due to beating myself up. Especially when it seems that I'm doing everything right and still gain weight! It can be so frustrating! Based on the number of calories you are logging, it is impossible that you have gained weight from fat. You say you are sunburned, so I bet it's just your body trying to protect itself with water :) water weight will vary on any given day, but give your body a reason and man will it hold onto it, lol. No worries, drink lots of water and get back on that scale next week :)Never give up!

SOOOOO many things make the scale go up. Don't beat yourself over a gain. Frown and say "there's a reason". First thing that hit my mind is that you are sunburnt. Your skin is holding water simply from that because it is trying to heal itself from the burn. Secondly, make sure you are eating enough. If you go into really lowered calorie intake count your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto every calorie. Push the water hard. I was so disappointed with the scales when I got back home from my trip but I am back down now. I had to remember the morning of our 5K walk that my fingers/hands felt swollen. Sure enough as I was walking swinging my hands my fingers turned into plump stubs! My guess is that we had Applebee's the night before and there must have been too much sodium in my meal. It was advertised as less than 550 calories so I thought I was doing myself good. Now I'm wondering how much salt was in it. But with my cold I drank like a fish all day Monday and probably went to the bathroom 20-25 times I kid you not, and I ended up less than my "pre-trip" weight. So push the water big time!!! I can't stress that enough to everyone.

I have been trying to push the water since I realized I was really burned. I drank while out in the garden too... I think I have to watch my sodium as well. My hubby is big on not going into starvation mode...so I really try to get enough calories to keep my body working right. If you check my calories I definitely eat enough! I think I have reached the point where I am going to have to increase my activity level possibly? Thanks for the input and encouragement! :)

Good you are eating enough to keep your body functioning. Maybe you hit the nail on the head about increasing activity. And hey, now you have that garden to keep up with!

Hopefully the gardening will help. Tonight I purchased netting to install over my strawberry bed. That is the next project. I have to be careful in the sun though with this sunburn. I also posted on the forum and now realize for sure that my sodium intake is too high. I have ranged between 1700-4000+ this month. Now I know that it should be around or under 2000. Something more to watch.

I don't have the first clue on how to judge my sodium... I rarely use the salt shaker at home and I really can't stand the fast food fries out there. They are just covered in salt. I cringe when my granddaughter salts her fast food fries. She's the only one who will ask for the salt shaker at family get togethers at our house. And I so much want to refuse to let her have it. Maybe I should pay more attention to my own salt intake just to check it. I don't even know how much I should have. Is there a table or something to go by?

Becky, You can show your sodium intake by changing the preferences on your food journal. At the top right where it lists your protein, fat and carbs there is a preferences. Click it and you can change the nutrition values that show. I have it show my sodium as well. Eye opening to say the least. It is amazing how much sodium is in things that you don't even think about. Canned food is awful because it is a preservative. It isn't just using your salt shaker that you have to worry about. Try adding that to your preferences for even a day and you will be surprised on how much sodium you have consumed.

oops, then check my forum post on salt intake. I had some wonderful responses to what is normal for adults and children. That gave me a goal to shoot for. I am going to try to hold it to under 2000 per day.
