Thanks for your comments, friends. I am back again today already because I feel compelled to record my shameful behavior as a warning for myself. This morning when I realized there was nothing to eat here I had ICE CREAM for breakfast. Then we went out to lunch at Jerry's. My plan was to have my fave dish, the citrus salmon, but then I remembered they don't serve it until 4pm, so (forgetting about breakfast) I ate a belgian waffle! It was good, but after that I just totally crashed!! Way too much sugar for me, and virtually no protein. The chicken or grilled cheese would have been a better choice. oy vey, I am suffering now. I don't know that the scale will be that happy, either, but that's not the main point.

Alaina asked about my meal coordination ideas. Well, I just had some recipe ideas of things I could try that I think Chuck would like. I plan to lure him into eating my cooking slowly... I'll try small variations of things that he already eats until he trusts that I can make things taste good. See, he is both allergic to a lot of things, and very finicky. I'm also thinking about a couple of books I've seen where you can hide the veggies in the food. Of course, each hidden veggie would have to be disclosed, because of his allergies, but it could still work. What he can't taste (and isn't allergic to) can't hurt him, right? I was also thinking that spinach might serve as an alternative to lettuce... he likes it and is not allergic, not sure if he'll eat the raw kind, but if not, I can work with that too. I just have to expand my cooking range a little; I was looking through my mom's better homes and gardens cookbook for ideas. I am thinking about learning to cook chicken, because so far salmon is the only protein we both like to eat. He and I will have to have a conversation about all this, but it can wait until we move, since that is coming up soon! Maybe we can meal plan together on sundays, and have one or two nights out to eat per week, and the rest cooking. That is, of course, me cooking, because my boyfriend literally never cooks, ever. he thinks anything that doesn't come from a restaurant or a frosted flakes box is cooking, and he is scared of home cooking, because he says its unpredictable, whereas restaurant food is always good. (what? No its not. Besides, though home cooking is often worse, it is also often better...) well, that's fine, he doesn't have to cook, as long as he helps with some of the other house cleaning. I'm helping him be more open to trying new things; he ate miso soup the other day and liked it!

anyway, i'm off. you all have a great day!

Ice cream sounds wonderful.... Sounds like you have a challenge ahead with the cooking and allergies but I think you are up to it. Once he tastes your wonderful recipes he will be hooked. My family always like the plain stuff and you cant go wrong with baked or pan seared chicken seasoned with just salt and pepper and maybe garlic salt. Just remember as you are learing to cook that simple is better. The fewer ingrediants the better. I can't tell you how many things I have thrown out because I tried to hard to make it fancy. Try the local library for different cook books. I remember one that used only 4 ingrediants per dish that was really good. Bon Apetit!
