cookiebaker74's Journal, 12 April 2013

I managed to hold myself together yesterday for my uncle's funeral. He was buried with military honors and this was the first time I have seen this done. VERY COOL! However after the funeral was not so great. The family (cousins, etc) decided to go out to eat. We ate at a local restaurant so I cannot find any nutritional information on what I ate to be able to log it. I tried to be good and I ate a vegan sandwich (lots of veggies on a bun, sauce too). I just hope I didn't do myself in. I have been managing fairly well and now I have a fear of letting even the smallest amount of junk food hit my lips for fear it will result in a downward spiral.

A little bit of junk will not send you in a downward spiral. The trick is not to overdo it. Again, my condolences over your uncle! The funeral sounds like it went very well and it is very cool when the military honors their men. I have been to a few. You ate smart at the restaurant and it does not sound like you did any damage to your diet and you gave your family and friends the support they were looking for! Kudos to you. Have a good day!

Thank you Kathy. When I weighed today (just curious) I was only up 1 lb. I guess that's not as bad as I was expecting. I just hate working so hard to lose the weight and then see it is so easy to gain back. I know I have to look at this as a lifestyle change and not a diet. I also know it will take time to get where I want to be. On a positive note, while at dinner last night I met Mike Shannon (announcer for the St. Louis Cardinal's baseball radio broadcast). He was very nice even though we interrupted his dinner for pictures and autographs. He even took time to talk to my kids, asking them questions about their ages, grade in school, sports they play (my son plays baseball and is #18- Mike Shannon's number). The kid's were star struck and it took an hour to get them calmed down. :)

Don't sweat the 1lb gain. It is probably just water weight from the large meal. I bet it will come off just as quick. We're the kids the only one star struck. It sounds like it took 2 hours to calm them down because you were equally excited.
