Shanelle05's Journal, 11 April 2013

This past few weeks has been very depressing. The medical issues I had have been making me understandably depressed. I don't want to be sad anymore. I keep using that as an excuse to eat and I need to stop...

I've been doing research on some other symptoms I've been having.. My issues from before? Muscle fatigue and soreness, fatigue and bad acne... After doing a lot of research I think my issue is an allergen, like dairy or wheat. I'm going to start by cutting out dairy completely and see if that helps. If not, I'll switch to gluten free..

I have no idea what to eat that's dairy free. I don't know how to cook and I don't really want to eat just veggies every meal.. I have some more research to do.

Soy is an alternative to dairy and there are a lot of products out there now that cater to lactose and gluten intolerant people. If you haven't talked to your family doctor, you may want to do so. Amazing the things from allergies to sleep apnea and so on that can disrupt our emotional well being and contribute to over-eating. Don't give up! I wish you the best of luck!

Shanelle, I've been gluten free for three years now. After you learn how, it's really not that hard. Believe me, you won't be just eating vegetables!

I'm also going to cut out soda. I drink diet dr. p, mostly caffeine free. I drink 1 can of regular diet dr. p a day and the rest caffeine free. After all I keep hearing about how soda is bad for you I'm going to give it up. I'll start with the diet first, going dairy free. It's going to be hard changing to a dairy free diet or even gluten free. It's going to be hard but I'm tired of the way I feel.. If the changes I make will help me feel better, it'll be worth it.

Ouch. Depression is a battle that feels impossible to win. But you can do it. Hope you have spoken with your doctors about it as well as the other issues. Speaking from experience, diet can have a huge impact on fatigue, soreness and many other facets of your life. Just be careful to check for other causes as well. Good luck!
