Part of this process is listening to my body.

My body is saying "You need to rest today". I woke up this morning with ridiculously swollen ankles and generally felt fatigued. I overdid it a little this weekend. The scale was also up 1.3 pounds which has to be water from the swelling. (Right?) Feet were still hurting but at least I was able to walk (I was literally limping yesterday.) Did take the stairs down at least today (I work on the 4th floor, going to start taking them all the time I was trying to let things heal a little.)

So I'm sitting here resting. I'm actually considering a nap because I'm exhausted today (getting up this morning was awful and I slept like a log). I'm also broken out like crazy and my period is due any second so it's probably PMS. Have I mentioned I've been craving pickles?

I kind of want to go to the pool and maybe do some leisurely swimming but that means getting up, getting changed and walking over there and the nap sounds so much nicer actually.

Edit: I looked back over my exercise diary and I had two days off from any real exercise in the last week - one was Monday when I took a final exam and was super busy all day anyway, and the other day was the Tuesday after. Every other day since the month began I've done something (and ushering for a 3 hour opera where you pretty much stand the whole time and climb stairs IS exercise). No wonder I'm tired.

You should definitely rest, you've been workin it girl! Good for you for listening to your body & not allowing guilt to be part of this process. Enjoy your rest day!!

Resting is an important and often forgotten aspect of health/weight loss. You don't really lose fat or build muscle while you are working out, it happens later as you rest. So never feel guilty for resting, as many do! (Unless that's all you do, lol!) I think everyone should have at least one day of rest per week if they can work that into their schedules.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, I actually took a nap. I feel SO much better now. I'm actually at a slower point in my life for the next few weeks as my fall semester doesn't start until Sept 1st.

You should rest. Listen to your body. I have to keep reminding myself of that too.
