Well I have come to the conclusion that I can not weigh myself every day. I become discouraged with not seeing the scale move. For me this is a major set back and leads to not caring that I am trying. I forget that i am still eating healthy and trying. I do know that i am having a really hard time this time around with the loosing of these pounds that i have had before. I am not sure if it is because i am a chronic dieter and my body is just fighting everything i do or if it is due to being over 40. But this is for the birds, lol

Weighing every day can be a huge de-motivator, if there's no "activity!" For some people, or at other points in the journey, it's easier to handle. But you need to make a decision that seems best for YOU. Chronic dieting can definitely take its toll and make your body less responsive each time you try to diet....almost as if the body says, "Wait a minute here.....I'll just wait this out and I'll eventually get fed." Of course it doesn't work that way, but sometimes it sure seems like it. Aging doesn't help matters, but there are quite a number of us "over-40'ers" on site that prove you CAN lose weight, no matter the age. Unfortunately, in my own experience, it DOES take longer. But, take heart, you HAVE lost 4 pounds in less than 2 weeks....and some of that time you were being hampered by the Atkins bars. Hang in there!

I have the same problem! My husband yells at me to stay away from the scale! but I can't help myself...I go up and down in weight and I follow my atkins as best I can. My problem is not eating enough during the day and having a big dinner- late. Being close to 50 doesn't help I'm sure LOL!

Redflame - I just checked your food entry and you're not getting near enough veggies. Atkins says 12-15 NC a day...I see only around 7 for you. To speed up the weight loss try adding more carb heavy veggies to double your carbs in that area. Of course, that means you'll have to cut down on other areas. And I am a scaleaholic. Is there AA for that? :-)

I rarely ever even think about the scale, so I normally weigh about once every two weeks. Not the norm, no, but I know I'm eating right and my clothes let me know I'm losing pounds and inches. I used to weigh more often, maybe once a week (sometimes more if I was doing a FS Challenge), but I've never been a daily-weigher. There's just too much fluctuation due to water weight and/or voiding issues. I've been on "diets" since I was about 10 years old, so I would consider myself a chronic dieter, also. That hasn't seemed to hurt my progress, though, as long as I am really eating what I should. Also, I'm 44 and that hasn't seem to affect my weight loss either, nor the fact that I normally only eat one big meal a day. In the beginning of changing the way you eat to low-carb, you should eat several small meals throughout the day, though. That will keep you from being hungry and will keep the temptation to eat something non-low-carb at bay. If you follow the plan strictly, there's no reason for you to be hungry, and you should be able to lose about 10 pounds a month, but you have to be committed to doing it every day. The thing that has made it so easy for me, is that I have changed my eating habits for good. It's not a "diet", it's just the way I eat now :) As laurahedges said, you do need to eat more green, leafy veggies. The only other thing I would suggest would be to cut out the diet soda and Carb Smart Ice Cream. The diet soda has a lot of sugar substitute, like the bars and shakes. So even it's listed on the "allowed food list" for Induction, I would advise against drinking them. The ice cream, "Carb Smart" or not, isn't allowed on Induction at all lol. Try following strict Induction for 2 full weeks. Give your body a chance to really get into deep Ketosis and I think you'll be pleased with the results. Good luck to you!
