Earthlady's Journal, 09 February 2013

I've been offline for a couple of days, and off the diet, too! Two days at my brother's for my annual ration of roast pork at dinner and full English at breakfast!

On the flight home yesterday I bought and read Michael Mosley's book, the Fast Diet. Having thought about it before, when I watched the Horizon programme last year and Kingkeld was really interested in the idea, I decided yesterday to give myself a three-month trial. I'm starting today with a 'fast' day and then I intend to have fast days on Monday and Thursday each week.

Having been up for four hours and already done quite a bit of housework and some shopping, I'm now tucking into a meal of just under 400 calories, which is my usual breakfast bowl a little bit modified. I don't intend to have anything else today although I have 100 calories in hand should hunger pangs strike later (somehow I don't think they will).

It's not so much the weight loss now, as I'm more or less at my goal weight. I'm concerned with easier maintenance and above all the apparent health benefits of this way of eating.

So I'm starting off at 58.8 kg this morning (I said I'd over-eaten the last two days!) and with measurements of 88-77-95-55. My height is 1m67 so my BMI is 21.1.

Hey, welcome home :) Maintenance is the goal, isn't it? I can see where fast days would be beneficial. Keep in touch on how that goes...
