Today has been an interesting day.
I've been unemployed for 13 months... and counting. I haven't heard from a single job I've applied for in 11 months!
Yesterday I get an email asking if I'm still interested in a part time position that I applied for back in March. I called right away and said yes. Scheduled interview for today.
This morning I get a call back on a job I applied for yesterday. We set up a 3:00 phone interview. Cool!
Today I had the interview for the part time job. It went well and she offered me the job (pending drug/background check). Yeah! So I went to take drug test.... 1 hour and 15 minutes later! Geez. I'm rushing home because I have 20 minutes to get home and take the phone interview. I only live 10 minutes away.
Ring.... phone interview called 10 minutes early! I'm literally 1 block from home! So I answer and pull into my neighbor... a grocery store. Phone interview went very quickly. She sounded young and inexperienced as an HR person. I went over my skills. Thank god I printed off my resume and the cover letter to this job and had it in my purse! She ended the call saying they have others to call and if they want to meet me they will call later for a face to face interview.
So I drive the one block home. Not sure how the phone interview went, but I'm thrilled I got a call to begin with. Walk in the house... ring ring... they want to meet me Monday! Yeah! Woohoo!
OMG... for 11 months I've been saying "I just want an interview". And all this in one day!
Even if nothing comes of it.... it's nice to finally hear back from a company. :)

hey thats great!! Thats how it went for me, once I accepted my current job I had 3 other companies contact me asking for interviews...your timing seems better---maybe you can even be choosy! good luck :-D

That's fantastic! Congratulations! I too was unemployed for a while and didn't start getting any interest until I "dumbed down" my resume. I was over qualified for a lot of positions I was looking for so I changed the job title of my last position to NOT read manager and put an hourly wage instead of annual and I had a job very shortly after that. Actually wound up being more than I made at the last job. Good luck with your interviews. I'm sure you'll do great!

Barbie - I do have a dummy resume as well. I keep track on which resume is sent out to each posting. I'm just happy to have an interview!! :) Yeah
