madaboutmoose's Journal, 16 July 2010

Finally Friday.

Yes.

Let's see ... I loved all the curly hair counsel I received on yesterday's journal. This is such a cool place ... so much knowledge!! LOL!! I won't be able to experiment with any of the advice for another day though ... no washing or drying allowed!! It also cracked me up ... the comments about me eating the peach cobbler on purpose so I could be an inspiration? Sure. I planned it all out because I am such a generous person!! In fact last night I purposely ate more than my fair share of Pita chips for the exact same reason!! LOL!!

Weight is inching down. Today I was 187.8 down a full 2 tenths of a pouind from yesterday!! Tonight I am bringing home pizza so I am not expecting a huge loss tomorrow when I will 'officially' weigh in here on fatsecret.

We watched Shutter Island last night. It was a well done movie but a little too weird for my taste. I think two nights of blood, violence, and the like was too much for us. I am ready to laugh, be mindlessly entertained, enter fantasy land through something silly, light-hearted, completely unrealistic!!

I talked to my mom yesterday and she is having a wonderful time on her vacation. She took the ferry to Victoria Island and walked her feet off!! Now she is in the thick of her miniature enthusiasts conference and having a grand time. I'm so glad she is having fun!! She'll be headed home on Sunday.

So today I have either 2 or 3 visits in town with families and I will continue to work on my paperwork pile. I am down to 5 files that need something ... mostly reports that need to be written. Not much chance I'll actually catch up but maybe I can reduce the pile by one or two. We'll see. Depends on how much time I take checking in on you all!!

As is my practice I will close by considering what I am grateful for this morning ...

1. okay this is obvious but I am grateful it is FRIDAY!!!

2. I am grateful that I am NOT getting divorced. Yesterday someone I know told me she and her husband were getting divorced. It made me sad. I know divorce happens and for good reasons. But it always saddens me. This particular person has always described her husband as her 'best friend.' She said the last year she has been very unhappy ... mostly because he has become a "stick in the mud" and isn't very attentive or communicative with her. She believes leaving him will help him become more active again and be happier. I just know I am grateful that I am NOT getting divorced and I hope it works out for her.

3. I am grateful that I wasn't born an Iranian woman. The movie I watched night before last and Info's 'info' that a stoning was scheduled yesterday for a woman accused of adultery in Iran makes me grateful I am an American woman, even with all the challenges we have here in the USA.

4. I am grateful for the beautiful weather of late and the beauty of the area I live in.

5. I am grateful for this daily practice of checking in here on fatsecret, taking the time to consider what I am grateful for, having so many good buddies along for my journey, and life in general. While it certainly has difficult moments I am indeed grateful for life.

Have a FABULOUS FRIDAY FRIENDS!!! Take care of yourselves being always mindful of practicing kindness!!

What is "minature enthusiasts?" Is that for people who like to do dollhouse stuff? If so my grandparents were soooo into that! As usual, I love your gratitude list! Have a great Friday Moose! :)

All this hair talk is making me want to make an appt for myself! I would LOVE to get that Japanese hair straightening thing done, but its so expencive. I was born with 80's curls... YUCK! LOL I spend so much time every morning with the blow dryer, straighner.... Oy! Anyway, I LOVE your curls - I like them on other people, just not myself - so keep it up! As far as your movie choices, maybe you should rent something old - like Money Pit. Thats a funny movie! Have a great Friday buddy!!!

I'm so with you on the grateful to be an American woman part. I think as Americans, it is so unbelievable for us to think of how women are treated in other parts of the world. We should be thankful every day for the women who came before us and forged the path to (almost) equality. When I read about the stonings of women for adultery, which is usually rape, and how many women are treated as third class citizens and have no rights, I feel like I'm SO privileged to live here and be able to have my own life and career and choices. Thanks for the reminder. It is always good to realize that no matter what we are going through, it is nothing compared to the horrors faced in other parts of the world. Have a great friday! I sure am grateful for that too!

I'm afraid I can't help much with the curly hair thing. ;-) I saw Shutter Island a while back and had similar thoughts. It was somehow too strange and I did not leave the theater with a good feeling at all. "Weird" *is* the appropriate word. BTW: With the Iranian stoning thing... Do you know that they pick the stones to be small enough to not do enough damage with a single one, but big enough to do "just enough." It's something out of "Ripley's Believe it or Not."

One of the things I like most about you Moose is your "Attitude of Gratitude". I also look gor the things i am grateful for on a daily basis. Even on the very worst days i can always find something to be grateful for. Thanks for being you-i enjoy your journal entries/confessionals they make me realize that i don't have to be perfect to be able to love myself.

I love reading your journals...LOVE the positive energy that flows from it! You and Kate have both inspired me to be kinder to myself. This site has encouraged me to take more time for myself and due to all of this kindness and "me time" I'm feeling so much stronger than I have in years. I can't thank you or the rest of my buddies enough!! Have a blessed weekend!
