Sandy701's Journal, 08 January 2013

Walked a bit over 3.1 miles this morning with the doggies. We lost the sunshine, but it's getting warmer and more humid in advance of some rain and storms coming our way in the next day or so.

I successfully detoured the peanuts today......BUT.......ran smack into the jar of peanut butter. Darn. I should stop eating anything else now, but probably will have to have something around dinner time....perhaps just my usual salad. I hate this when this happens, but haven't yet found a reliable way to deal with this, even though I've had this issue for well over a year! I do think that if I had a job, or an errand, that got me out of the house, I might do better with this particular issue....maybe worse with some other issues, though.

Well, no use crying over gobbled peanut butter. Just work forward.

Oh yes - you and your nuts! At least you were able to get out and walk some of it off. Can't wait until the 16th when I can have nuts again! BTW - I am still laughing at your comment at Christmas time. I had never suggested that you buy DH gifts at the Dollar Store - just gift bags to drop the gifts into!

I have REAL issues with PB -- it calls my name from closed cupboards. LOUDLY :)

I always say "I never met a peanut I didn't like". lol. Seriously though living in a college town I go to a ton of games and my favorite part is getting a bag of peanuts in the shell and just making a big ol' mess of the floor around me in the stands. I think they come through with big blowers to clean up the stands? I cannot stop once I have one peanut. It must be a trigger food? Anyway I am not at the point in my program where I can even think about nuts. Baby steps for me. I feel like I just binged reading and commenting about it. hahaha

Bren, I think I could live just on PB! Not sure where my love of it comes from, as I don't remember having it much at all growing up.

Yvonne, I've used that "walk away..." phrase MANY times in the grocery stores these past several weeks! LOL! Most recently, at WalMart, I had to mentally tell myself, "Walk AWAY from the chocolate-covered pretzels..." And, I did....fortunately!

Jaime, I don't like cashews all that much, but give me peanuts, peanut butter, almond butter, soynut butter, well, you get the picture. If they didn't pack such a calorie wallop, they'd be perfect foods, IMO.

GigiP, I know the only real, sure-fire solution for me is to just have NO PB, peanuts, or other nut butters in the house. Sometimes, I'm successful in that, other times, not so much. :(

Lbsgoner, thanks for stopping by. You sound like a fellow peanut-lover, that's for sure. Used to be a handful of restaurants that would plop a big ol' bucket of in-the-shell peanuts in front of you to munch on as an appetizer...not sure if many do that anymore as it does create a clean-up issue and it creates problems for those allergic to peanuts. Good luck on your journey!
