Struggling with my weight, struggling with getting to bed before 3AM due to watching TV, or whatever.........

Past 2 days I lowered calories - but today is not yet over. I hope the scale moves by Saturday weigh in....

Last night went to bed at 2:30AM-Bad day. After I volunteered in the morning, reading to kids in a day care center, came home and slept for 1 hour and some. I think this routine is effecting my weight, eating, mood, etc. I have a lot of work before me, and I've known about it, but lack a take action attitude.

Goind for a better night tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a better day and diet tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 day at a time!?

I have been really sluggish the past two days. So tired during the day, i can barely keep my eyes open. Maybe we should get off the computer and hit the sack! :) I just love my quiet time each night when the kids are all asleep!! Ahhh!! so peaceful!!

Oh gee whiz! I don't know HOW you do it with those kinds of hours! I'll be thinking of you and sending some "good sleep" vibes your way! You can do it! I'm thinking of you.

Wow, you need to get back to sleeping well again. I suffered (still do) from sleep deprivation and because its been ten years I now take sleeping pills every night and probably will for the rest of my life. You need to really work on getting your sleeping habits back to normal so you don't suffer from it like I did for ten years and then have to take meds (some nights even the meds don't help). Here is a list of things you are suppose to try to get back to normal sleeping. 1. wake up at the same time each morning, and no matter how tired you are...NO NAPS. 2. If you lie awake in bed for more than 30 min. and are still wide awake, its better to get up for a while and try going back to bed again in an hour. This keeps you from getting into the habit of laying awake in bed. Your mind has to accept and learn that bed is a place for "sleep". 3. do not engage in any "stimulating" activities when you get up at night. Don't watch a tv show you like, watch a boreing show, documentary, political/science show...something that bores you. Or read a boring manual from one of your appliances, like how to clean your refrigerator. 4. Do not "reward" yourself with food when you get up at night (I know thats hard to do...for me it is anyway). If you eat when you get up at night your brain and body begin to think of it as a "reward" for not sleeping. 5. If your sleepless nights last for more than 2 weeks at a time, get medical help right away. Taking a sleeping pill for a few days to get over a temporary problem, is better than letting it go for ten years like I did and end up on expensive sleeping pills for life. BTW... I did go to a doctor when I first started having problems (it was right after my mother died). The stupid doctor sent me to a psychiatrist who had me in his office every week for three months, then told me that sleep problems that last more than 3 months become sleep deprivation problems and are hard to cure. He said, (and I quote him) "Someone should have given you sleeping pills when the problem first started". I DID go for help!! I went to a doc that sent me to him, and he could have given me a perscription. So I quit going to him! stupid man! Just wanted you to know that I did seek help right away. Sorry to have given you such a lecture but Susie, you need to take care of yourself first, because your children need you in top condition. Take care sweetie and I hope you have a good night tonight!

Thanks for you informative help. I did sleep last night......the thing is I have medication that "acts as a sleeping pill" from my doctor, and what I am doing is choosing to take it right before I decide it's time to go to sleep (like at 2AM or 3AM, etc.). So if I take it at 10:30, when I am in bed prepared to go to sleep at 11:00 (rather than on the computer, paying bills, doing whatever) it will work just fine. But the trouble is I am not wanting to go to bed early so I stall everything-that is the taking of the pills. I know that there was a time I could fall asleep early without needing the pills; that was not so long ago, so I will step things up and get back to my good old way of sleeping. Thanks for your sincereity............
