Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 13 November 2012

The meatloaf never happened. I got a call last night that things are going late because they were combining beans finally. I think both of us were ready to have a breakdown watching the last weather report that said a possible foot of snow last week. 1 foot of snow equals covered beans equals about $30,000 loss for the year. So YAY! But that meant picking up dinner so I could be out in the barn doing chores and not staying up will 1 or 2 in the morning trying to cook a dinner that everyone would be too tired to eat.

So.. I get home and the guy that was hired to combine the beans needs a ride home so he can leave the combine at the farm to do the corn later. He lives 45 minutes away. Sooo... dinner goes in the fridge. Kids go in the car and off we go. I love the combine guy. He was a friend of hubby's father and has such great advice and stories. The ride was great.. Except. I hadn't eaten in about 7 hours and we kept passing Dunkin Donuts, A and W stands, Mcdonalds, pizza joints, bakerys,... you name it.. we passed it. Talk about torture! But my salad from mcdonalds was in the fridge at home so I just kept focusing on that as images of hot cocoa, cappuccinos, and donuts danced in front of me. I didn't think he would want to see me get another salad and attempt to eat it while driving. Something about salads and driving doesn't seem like it's an acceptable attempt in front of company. By the time I got home and ate I was so freakin exhausted I just wanted to rush through the rest of chores and collapse. Which hubby took as me having energy... um no. Right before downright collapse you get a burst of energy before you end up in a corner sucking your thumb.

So... I think I did great.

Yes you did great!!! I had to miss the gym and I still can't convince Maddie to go to the childcare at the new gym so with scouts I will only get to go if I can get the hubby to take her too for half an hour. Hmmm... how to spin this one...

glad you got the beans in. i know what it does when the weather doesn't cooperate. when i was a kid our first (and only) year doing sunflowers lost to the snow. $100,000 i recall dad saying was that loss. back to corn & alfalfa it went!

I hear you - one busy girl! Snacks in purse!!! I'm kicking your butt! Sandwich bags with: Almonds, jerky or macadamias. Things that won't spoil. Or things that will spoil: carrots, celery, grapes. If all else fails keep protein bars in your glove box. Now to the nice me again. Glad your beans got combined. When I first read that I was thinking "WTF" is she combining beans with. Then I realized that there is a machine that does that - outside. Does it actually combine them with something? I should look that up on Wikipedia. :) Dumb city girl here. - But hey - I have been hunting before does that count?

I think you did great too! Helpful Hint - Next time pop a piece of chicken from your salad into you mouth as you head out the door - it will take you a long way!
