Day 2 of school term:)

This is one of the best days of my life!!! Praise God!!! Have managed to hit my lowest weight since joining FS 3.5 years ago. Utter shock and disbelief!!! Hope to continue in this manner for a few more pounds.... Ironically have been afraid of gaining weight while house bound and injured, and since forced not to exercise at all right now, have been keeping to my daily RDI (1200 calories) desperately. In doing so, have learned that my body can lose about 1/4 pound per day (on average) without any exercise whatsoever. A kinder, lifestyle?

More importantly, very sorry to have been away from FS lately. Little sleep and the pain in my leg have had me too preoccupied. Manage to shower, cook, wash dishes, and log food. Lol that's about it. The other day, had to use the grocery store’s wheelchair to shop, a humbling yet also thrilling success. Discovered the joys of taking corners and seeing how fast I could make the thing go.;-) Have also devised a way to drive the car short distances by using a cane on the gas pedal and my good leg for the brakes. Lol ventured out to the local Starbucks drive-through, taste buds enthralled in anticipation. We live in a loving, abundant, and harmonious universe and I am grateful!

Each day gets better. Woke up at 3 am this morning though, because my leg was acting up as it typically does when the Tylenol 3s start to wear off. My strategy is to sit in the kitchen for about 30-45 mins, putting on the kettle to boil water, then soaking a facecloth to apply to my leg. These burning hot compresses work like magic to bring down the swelling and muscle spasms, a home remedy given to me by an old Asian doctor who first happened to check my leg at the walk-in clinic. Instant relief!!! The treatment works so well, in fact, that I've been able to under-dose with the anti-inflammatory medicine which sadly causes extreme bloating.

Nobody knows what’s causing this sciatica yet. Still on the very long wait list for an MRI scan, but thankfully the local med lab accommodated me miraculously last Saturday for an ultra sound test. Yesterday my GP's office phoned asking me to go to her North Shore office ASAP to talk about the results.... Seems so ominous when doctors call us, but hoping for the best and bracing myself for the worst. Hope to post any news here later tonight when I get back.

Feel so grateful for my buddies being here, and God working through you.:) Hope you all have a wonderful day! Stay extraordinary and God bless.:)

Hoping today will answer the questions regarding the sciatica and a solution to get you back in the game. I'm guessing perhaps this came on out of the blue and you did not injure yourself in some way? Love the ingenuity to get yourself to Starbucks! I knew that stuff was addicting just didn't realize it's power until your story! LOL It's good to hear that the 1200 calories per day is working for SOMEONE! I am not having any real luck but I continue to do my thing. I am down 20 lbs. and I certainly cannot complain about that. If i don't lose another ounce I feel so much better than I did in early June. Have a wonderful Day and keep us posted regarding the results. I will be praying for you!

Maria I am so sorry you are having so much pain. I remember how awful that feels when you hurt so bad and can't even do the easiest tasks. It sure makes us appreciate everything we are able to do. I know it is such a slow process and I really feel for you. I'm glad you have devised a way to get around and made a little game of it. We need to keep our spirits high even when we are feeling so low. I am also happy you are getting your Starbucks in. lol You sound like me. Great job on curtailing your calories and losing without the exercise. Please take care and I am praying that you will be on the mend soon. Hugs my friend.

Laurie: most importantly, thank you for your prayers! Yes the sciatica came out of the blue with no particular injury that I can recall. Lol wholeheartedly agree about Starbucks.;-) How true that each person's body is different and that 1200 calories for one is not the same as 1200 calories for another. In your case, you've lost a LOT of weight at an ASTOUNDING rate (a rate of 10 lbs per month since June). My guess is that your body needs to re-calibrate before it kicks off again? You are doing your very best and the results will come. I admire the way you are changing and your new health and vitality!!! Sometimes we can't do it, find it, or earn it. But we can BE it.;-) Cathy: Really appreciate your prayers!!! And thank you for understanding at such a deep level - one of your innate gifts.;-) Hugs to you both!!!
