ShyGuy's Journal, 03 September 2012

Well, I started off great, today, but then, as usual, this being a holiday, it kind of went down hill from there. LOL Such are the holidays for me. I won't be able to get back on track again until Wednesday, when I've finished off the few carb ladened foods, my brother and sister brought over for us to divy up (potato salad, baked beans, and buns for the hot dogs, along with the BBQ ribs and chicken. We also had some buffalo burgers, very tasty, and Ball Park Franks; all of which were cooked over some charcoal and cherry wood. We didn't soak the cherry wood long enough, so it caught fire too quickly, but I guess that's part of the learning curve when you are working with something new. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. :-)

One of my hardest lessons was learning to reject gifts of food. If I can't do that without there being drama, I dispose of it after the gift-givers leave. What they don't know won't hurt them, but what they want me to eat can hurt me. Go on, give it a try. Toss that stuff in the can and have some meat instead. :)

Thank you for commenting on my journal, however, in these tough economic times, the last thing I'm going to do is throw, great tasting, food away, especially when it's only a few servings. If it was that much of a problem, which it isn't, I'd send it home with them. Notice, I actually laughed about it; I laughed because I know holidays are going to come, and go, and I will occasionally eat off plan; but I don't beat myself up about it. I've been, reasonably, successful with my LCWOE, and have learned to not let holiday eating spiral out of control; also called bingeing, and also lost a lot of weight. I have the victory! I've already won my battle of the bulge, and don't fear one or two days of eating off plan, because, knowing this is a lifestyle, that I'm in it for the long haul, and that nothing will keep me from, ultimately, reaching my long term goals, I am fearless! It's not over until I win! So again, thanks, but no worries here! :-)

I had a fun (but not diet friendly) Labor Day as well. Fortunately, I was able to package up all the "bad" stuff and send it home with others!
