I saw the rheumatologist today - I asked for prescription strength Naproxyn (Alleve) - he gave it to me - the cost was only $1 for a full bottle of 60 pills for a month 500mg each, two a day, so I saved a fortune from buying it over the counter. I last saw him in October, about the time I started the diet, so I've lost over 20 pounds since then as I as I started at 223 not 220, and I told him I was going to lose another 20 pounds as any excess weight was a strain with the arthritis. I think inclement rainy or snowy weather is due tomorrow as I'm aching all over. Anyway, I will be walking regularly if spring ever comes to western Massachusetts and the weather warms up around here! :) P.S. A rheumatologist is an arthritis specialist medical doctor in case anyone doesn't know...

That is great that you can save some money. We pay for insurance anyway, may as well make it work for us. :) I am hoping for better weather soon too. My husband and I are itching to go on some hikes.

The Naproxen (generic Alleve) has helped my arthritis a lot even with the cold and rainy weather we had here in western Massachusetts today. Of course it hasn't totally gotten rid of the pain but it has helped a lot better than anything else so far with another pain-killer I'm on. Together they're working great! Anyway, I plan to go to 180 with the weight, seem to be stalled this week with the morning weigh-ins but I've plateaued many times in the past and I know that over the long haul I'm going to reach my goal weight of 180 probably by autumn some time so there's no need to rush things and worry about it. Once the weather warms up I'll be walking three or four miles a day around my town at least daily if the arthritis eases up, which it probably will once the spring warmth finally arrives here in New England! :)
