Last night was my "out to eat" night. We had Mexican, as usual. Normally, I eat until I feel full, which is pretty darned quick with my sleeve. Then, because I really like food, I'll eat a little more and then be miserably full (but not painful, like many sleeve patients if they overeat). I figure its less than half of what I ate pre-surgery so no big deal. Except it is. That's my pre-surgery brain not keeping up with the times. My brain must change, too. So, last night, no chips and salsa and I stopped eating before I was full. It sounds so simple and easy.

Strangely, I nearly ordered a sweet tea but caught myself and got it unsweetened. Its been nearly a year since I had a sweet tea. Sugar cravings are not new for me but that kind of near slip is unusual. Its the specialty coffee, I believe. A reminder that I cannot allow myself any sugar at all or it will take over again.

Yesterday was a very very long day that started with me having a very unprofessional temper tantrum at work. My temper is slipping more and more often these days. I had a bit of an epiphany once I calmed down that maybe this is the emotional aspect of weight loss surgery. I've read about it multiple times - that all the changes in life and body after surgery put people on an emotional roller coaster. I expected bouts of crying, sadness over not being able to eat my chicken and veggies in the same sitting. Not temper tantrums at work, of all places. Sneaky.
