Your protein is really low, try adding some more meat. 2 1/2 ounces of meat is nothing. You should opt for at least 6 to 8 ounces per meal. Add an extra egg in the morning. That should help with the cravings. Your calories are low for a guy. Good formula for figuring out how many calories you should eat come from our Boot Camp your weight x 11 - 500= calories per day. Your weight loss is fabulous, but really need to up the protein and calories :) You are doing low carb and low calorie, and that will be hard to sustain.

Thanks CC, but I've always heard that to maintain a good loss you should keep a ratio of 65% fat at least. The problem with upping my protein is that I end up tipping it badly towards protein, and then I would have to increase fat. And I end up eating too many calories :) Or at least what I thought was too many calories. According to that formula I'd be over 2300! Which strikes me as... a lot. Maybe I'm just preconditioned to think of that as too many on a "diet" and should look more long term...

What we are preconditioned to believe is that we have to CUT calories to lose weight. Atkins is actually the opposite, we need the calories, the fat and the protein. And because it is not a DIET but a WOE it is a good idea to look long term...like FOREVER :) 2300 calories does sound like a lot but my bet is that it is not, but try for 2000. that is a great bet with some one at your present weight. I eat between 1500 and 1600 calories a day, and some say that is even too low, so I am betting with even 2000 calories you will lose and you will not have the cravings..Aloha

I loved reading this post! It is hard for me, too, to get enough calories in and make certain I don't have too many carbs. I guess it takes time and practice! Good luck Pstansel!
