Earthlady's Journal, 23 July 2012

Yesterday was very hot and muggy, like stormy weather but no storm, very sticky. I did NO exercise and the absolute minimum at home, in fact I spent most of the day working on a jigsaw puzzle! It's not like me at all to be so inactive but I just felt the need to completely chill out. It was all I could do to complete the essential daily clean-up of the kittens' litter, newspaper etc.

They're great, actually, not quite 6 weeks old and they're all using the litter tray or the newspaper it stands on and no 'accidents' elsewhere for over a week now. They're all eating solid food too, and I notice them suckling less and less. Of course, they're into everything and can climb onto everything, too, and it's really hard to keep all our belongings out of reach of their tiny (but very sharp) claws and teeth.

Anyway, I started early today, cleaning windows before the sun hits them, so I'm just having a break for breakfast. My aging Mum is due to arrive Thursday so I'm cleaning and cooking over the next 3 days - breaking it down into daily chunks that can be done despite the heat and without getting too tired.

I'm definitely putting the sleepiness down to the medications, and the feeling of bloatedness and constipation too. I feel really 'heavy' although I'm the same on the scale. Maybe a much more active day today will help matters... Looking forward to getting today's housework done by lunchtime, taking an afternoon nap (!) and going for a swim later. Note to Baxie - the sea here is a completely enclosed sea (Marmara Sea on the map, north west Turkey) so there are no waves and no tide and I stay pretty much within my depth, don't worry :)

Sorry to be so late replying to your journal entry...busy days here. I looked up a map of Turkey to see your "swimming hole" :) Thank you for 'splaining (explaining--my family's slang term, lol). I knew Turkey was bounded by the Mediterranean and Black Sea, but hadn't noticed the Marmara...sounds lovely...but what a different world than the one Americans live in. Climate wise, it sounds much like California, the only place in America with a mediterranean climate...interesting! Hard to believe your kittens are already 6 weeks old! They are at the really cute stage, learning to be "big kitties" by practicing arching their backs and pouncing on each other (and your ankles as you pass by) among other talents...I do love how self-training to the litter box they are...none of that puppy house-training that can be so frustrating! You seem to be feeling better, and that's good to hear. I hope you can enjoy your time with your mother. It must be so difficult to watch your once young, vibrant parent deteriorate. Both of mine died suddenly of heart attacks...I have to say, as shocking as it is, it's much preferable to many alternatives. Now, don't work too hard at prepping the house...let the girls do their part, and then just try to relax and enjoy your mama. :)
