So, it has been a pretty interesting week. I had that test on Saturday, which went OK in my opinion and "exceptionally well" in the opinions of the other students testing and some of the Dans (masters) who were reviewing me. I do know that I have a bunch of bruises from the sparring but no lasting injury so it is all to the good. :)

Strangely my weight spiked on Monday to 186, and was down to 184 yesterday and today. I'm guessing that has to do with a reaction to the bruises. The good news here is that a pair of Levi's I bought that I didn't fit into a month ago I now fit into really well. I'm down to a 33" pant waist, it appears, which I haven't fit into since Junior High. Hopefully I'll drop a a bit more weight in the next few days, but otherwise I'm happy.

On the exercise front, I've been working a good chunk of overtime so that limits exercise time. Hopefully I'll be able to make up the kickboxing I missed, but it looks like the gym is just out of the question for the week. Ah well, it will give me time to recuperate so that is just fine.

And a follow up on my Dad. He's doing really well and was up and walking within two days of his attack. He has managed to stay off cigarettes for the last week, which was the primary cause of his current heart attack. I'm actually really proud of him since I wasn't sure he could quit for even a week. Hopefully he'll be able to do another week, and then another, until not smoking is the habit.

Bruising (and many injuries) causes you to retain water while your body repairs itself. That's probably what the short spike came from. Good job on the test.
