Trimmer55's Journal, 30 September 2015

Woohoo ! Today is three weeks in and 7.5 pounds down. Thrilled because I feel like I have been working hard with the exercising. Exploring the activities that I like to do that will burn the most calories. Eating less has been OK. I will say that I am super sensitized to watching food commercials on TV. I never really noticed them and now they can distract in a major way. My husband will even stop talking mid-sentence to watch a Little Ceasar's Pizza ad. Ha ha

So being conscientious of portions has been a big change for me and all for the good. I have been pretty studious about calorie content of portions and basically disregard fat content, because the calorie content usually reveals when the fat is super high. As I wrote in earlier posts, I feel we (my husband and I) eat healthy, so to have this weight correction, choosing not to pick all day, even if that snacking was carrots, pretzels and the like. I have been busy canning up my garden bounty. I did batches of spicy pickled beets - delish, ratatouille and vegetarian chili. I like having a complex savory dish all ready in the fridge.
We have had a couple of meals with friends and even ate out at a popular hamburger grill restaurant. We ate. I skipped the coleslaw, because despite the cabbage base, the creamy sauce signalled superfluous calories that I prefered to spend on that beautiful medium rare burger. After grasping that beautiful hamburger loaded up with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, I allowed myself one great open-mouthed bite of it. Yummy, but sloppy and then I removed the larger portion of the bun and ate the rest smorgasbord style. The accompanying french fries were hand cut and I ate 3/4 of that sensible portion.
It is important that we had this meal about 3:30 in the afternoon and I was content through the evening. I didn't eat much that evening.
All this is to say that I think that I am not keeping myself from enjoying food. I am taking control of what I choose to eat in a restaurant and the act of eating out is not scary or a threat to my entire regimen!
