Glen and Kelly, you have both stated great thoughts! I know I'm working hard to make my home easy to maintain. I love my yard and working in it but want to be able to stop and enjoy it as well. My gardens except for the veggie raised beds are working toward perennial ones heavily mulched which take little care once established, one front yard bed is that way now. So mowing and weed eating some TLC spring and fall and it should be wonderful. My inside once it done should also be easily maintained with 980 sq feet per floor and easy care surfaces and everything with a place. Also all that stuff I never ever use or like is slowly going away!! It creates work and clutter. Lots of work to get there. Kelly you are getting so close.

Added footnote - don't ask me how but everywhere I lived I have been lucky my apt area has had good drainage - although flooding around me from treasure island to Brooksville -the guy upstairs must be looking out for me!!!!

Hang with it, kelly. just take one step at a time and be mindful of every little thing in each moment.

Live in the hour don't worry about what is going to happen at the end of August! This will create calm in your day and although I'm a serious planner you have to live in the moment to enjoy it!

You're doing a lot at once, Kelly. Hopefully further projects can be taken at a slower pace! (P.S. I'm with Glen - I never bought a home that I couldn't live in with just minimal work!)

This is my husbands family home we live in now. It had not seen upgrades and fixes except what was needed and paint or wall paper in the 45 yrs his parents owned it. Oh yeah added some soso kitchen cabinets but did not replace the one that needed replaced... the sink cabinet. SMH

I sometimes feel like it's a battle against the house or the previous owners. LOL

his dad's idea of upgrades was patchwork wallpaper in the game room. back in the 70;s gold orange greens. Oh stick on tiles! the screen door died just rip it off and not replace it. But Every weekend he threw parties or went out to the clubs drinking. THat was how he preferred to spend his money on partying.

Back in the day before I had kids that would need lifelong care my dream was a camper or a tiny home on wheels so I could do all things things I want without having to spend so much time and money on the upkeep of a home. I love tiny spaces and not so much stuff. To me it's very calming and freeing.

Nichol, I wanted to live on a houseboat!! LOL My quilting machine wouldn't fit well unless it was a really really expensive boat. Boats take a lot of upkeep though, I've learned that over the years.

I could not do tiny spaces. I have watched the tiny home revolution type DIY shows and I shake my head and think I like space to move. And I cannot imagine crawling into a tiny loft to sleep or anything... perhaps in my youth and if I was single.... not now.

Me also, I love my space and my yard, I'm also not an apartment or condo person. I don't even like home owners associations.;)

Yeah not keen on HOAs either nothing like paying twice for what you want to own. And it would be like living in a dictatorship, paint your house this way or that but not this. NTYVM If I want my house pistachio green with violent violet polka dots I will do it my way. :P
