HCB's Journal, 30 July 2015

Greetings Buddies:

So, tweak, tweak and tweak some more! My food plan for July was eating increased carbs and additional calories to see if I could continue to lose at the same rate as prior months.

Answer: A GIANT NO.

I averaged about 32 total carbs per day - about 11% of my daily intake during July. I think I lost about two pounds the whole month. Don't get me wrong - I am happy to lose more fat...but I have lost up to five pounds in one month.

So, tweak, tweak and tweak some more! My food plan for August will be to get the total carbs to average 20 per day, and keep the calories within my RDI. The carbs will be about 8% - 9% of the daily intake in August

Let's see how it goes for me. I have a soft goal of hitting the 160's by October...hope I can do it.

Celebrate your successes and do not dwell on less than perfect days. Move on!

Words of the Week: "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

Advice from my doc in controlling my asthma and increasing my fitness and health, including losing weight. She is terrific and it's funny that she is the same age as my oldest DD. She works well with me on as few meds as I can get away with, fusses at me when I get off track, uses me as her poster child (old enough to be her mom LOL) for other patients my age. We have come a long ways in the 5 years I've gone to her.

HCB--I love your Words of the Week. I've heard something like that, paraphrased, more than once. A coach told my daughter that once (RE running). My husband had a swimming teacher (when he was younger and learning to swim) that had told him something similar (he's told me the story many times). And, in essence, it is what my doctor has told me RE my own weight loss journey. "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." I really believe those words to be true!

Really true, slow is good when it comes to weight loss, it's been proven you are more likely to keep it off as you are making life changes not a so called diet.
