Lazy mornings on this week off. It's a rainy chilly morning in the 50's. Even crazy pup was sleepy this morning.

Stayed up too late watching that documentary Fed UP.

I need to get moving. Plan today is working on my house, get those panty shelves re-installed so they don't come crashing down again. Fill them and then see what is next. I have more than plenty to keep me busy.

Will try to add more kettle ball in, I did a bit last night but only a little bit now and then.

Have "FED UP" on my Netflix list so will make it a point to watch it. After watching the documentary about the guy who ate McDonalds for three months and put on all that weight...I really opened my eyes to fast food! It is a shame what we are doing as a society to ourselves and our children. Our children thought I was probably the meanest mom is the world as I just didn't go the fast food route with them growing up...neither one has a weight problem today so maybe I did do something right. My weight didn't come from fast food but eating too much of good old-fashioned home cooking! I didn't mean to get into a rant as I know that you are certainly more advanced about eating than I but just needed to get those thoughts out... Enjoy your day...it is also rainy and chilly here...

It's good, mostly about sugar and processed foods and the struggles of some children and their families. I think it applies to everyone not just children. It also gets into the gov't support issues of those industries. Interesting who is now financing Michele Obama's healthy kids plan and a look at how that has changed. Not more advanced Gwen. I've been on the natural food band wagon since the 70's. I was also the mean MOM. My kids didn't even get store bread. If we did Mcdonalds it was a small hamburger and maybe a large fry to split between 3 kids if we were shopping in town or something. We lived way out in the country back then. I ended up a manager for McDonalds for awhile, no jobs available as we had 2 large plants shut down in a small city. I read the labels most people don't see, saw the marketing, trained people to up sell. Was out of there as soon as I had another opportunity. I also did not gain weight eating a lot of processed or fast foods but after surgeries where I couldn't do much and then a sit down job, I became way to sedentary.

Sometimes I just sleep in a bit just because - it's not often. Take it when I get it. Yesterday I had a 12 hour day since I was working from just before 6 am. BTW - my mom was never a proponent of fast foods. I never had fast foods until I became a full-fledged adult. She made everything from scratch - and it was better because I was not overweight back then (of course, I didn't realize it was better back then). However, I always had a sweet tooth and it was/is my biggest battle. Ice Cream was my best friend - but we broke up!

Hope you get everything done. One of these days I'd love to take a stay at home vacation.

Oh Jen, I love ice cream!! I didn't grow up in a fast food era as many 60 or over didn't. We had Dairy Queen and A&W root beer stands. We also had the drive ins that the teens cruised. I still stop in for soft serve off and one. I remember when McDonalds opened near us in Oklahoma City with 15 cent hamburgers and 10 cent fries. In those days they made their patties burgers and peeled potatoes for their fries. My next door neighbor worked for them as a teen. Now he owns a bunch of them. Around 1962 or 63. We thought it a great treat to get a hamburger, fries and a chocolate shake- they were made with real ice cream and milk in those days. Now it's a chemical mix fed into a machine.

Buffy, I have 4 weeks vacation, no spouse to go play with somewhere. So my week off the end of July will be off to play with some of the grandkids. Slowly getting through things, the only pressure is my own. The shelves are up in the pantry, much more secure than last time!! LOL. Partially filled, I need more containers. Still trying to get things out of bags etc.

Good dinner, Mexican marinated pork chops (from the Mexican butcher shop) quick cooked on the gas grill, baked sweet potato and a salad with garden mixed greens jicama, pear, and tomato topped with a bit of balsamic dressing. Some fruit salad for desert and quick fried corn tortilla chips for desert.

McDonalds use to make shakes with real ice cream ... that is amazing. They have strayed from their origins!

Your shelves crashed down??? That is a bummer - hope the re-install was smooth.

It was good and no pans to wash. ;) Interesting that the Mexican shops have very thin cut meat. The Pork chop weighed about 3 oz including the bone it was large but only about 1/4 inch thick. about 3 min per side on a hot grill and it was perfect!! Jenn they used to use fresh peeled and cut potatoes and actually handmade their burgers, they of course are now frozen. Also when I started early 1990's we made our own biscuits then they changed to cardboard boxes with a couple dozen frozen wrapped in plastic that were tossed in the oven including the plastic. We chopped tomatoes for the burritos and cracked all the eggs. Not sure what happens now.

HCB, yup crashed and what a mess!! Anyway turns out the screws were shorter than they should have been as they went through the drywall but not far enough into the studs. I think they are solid now, longer screws.
